Please Stop Calling them Grey Jedi.

Let's be real here: the Jedi were morons because otherwise the plot doesn't work anymore.

Truthfully, a great many plots fall apart unless a great many individuals involved have firmly grabbed hold of the Idiot Ball with both hands.

****, the horror genre alone pretty much falls apart as a narrative venue if you have intelligent protagonists who react in an intelligent way when stuff starts getting weird.

To say nothing of Odysseus' inability to avoid bragging at a critical moment causing a severe delay in his efforts to get home after the Trojan War. Heck, just the sheer number of tragedy tales (Greek or otherwise) that could have been averted by nothing more than improved communication skills between relevant parties.

But like you said, without that plot-induced idiocy, so many stories simply fall apart, and the Star Wars films are no exception.

My favorite is the grave reaction to the clones using a template from a seperatist assasin. 2 scenes later they happily use said suspicious clones as if it is no big dealio

Most of the time, it just ends up being a murder hobo trying to justify bad role playing. Something something whataboutism, something something moral ambiguity.

Arguably trying to justify bad roleplaying is good roleplaying. Murder hobos usually wouldn’t consider themselves murder hobos; they‘d build up a justification to themselves out of whataboutism and moral ambiguity.

So try this one on for size: Every single Jedi who participated in or through inaction allowed the Clone Wars to happen would have lost there Jedi status! How do you morally justify going to war because a system wanted to leave the Republic?

I have a much easier time justifying going to war to preserve the Republic than I do going to war with an army of enslaved child soldiers for pretty much any reason at all.

Ask Abraham Lincoln? :)

To be fair, it wasn't Lincoln that went to war.
