The QR Code

By Duciris, in Marvel Champions: The Card Game

Anybody know if there's a QR code on this product?

If there is, it should link to http://ffgapp.com/qr/MVC01 but I can't confirm this without actually scanning the code. (My copy's in the very slow mail.)

If you're unfamiliar with FFG's LCG model, they started adding QR codes on the products in 2014. They show all the cards contained within. Happily, they keep it as simple as possible, so it's really predictable.

While we wait for the QR, however, we can observe the cards on http://www.cardgamedb.com/index.php/marvelchampions/marvel_champions/_/core-set/ . Click on "Custom" and select "Card ID" to sort them by set number.

Edit: Well, it should. It doesn't seem to be correctly sortable yet.

The problem with storing card numbers as strings (which you pretty much have to do if your "numbers" can include letters, as is the case with identities and main schemes) is that, unless you take specific measures (like windows does, sorting sequences of digits as numbers), they'll get sorted as strings (with 1 followed by 10-19, followed by 100-199, followed by 2). The obvious solution would be to pad the card numbers with initial 0's (at least in the card IDs) so the string order matches the numerical order (001 followed by 002 and so on), regardless of letter suffixes.

Edit: That explains the order with Card Numbers, but not Card IDs, which are completely messed up. Maybe they used random IDs.

Dang, Son! Better than I could put it!

As for the IDs I've seen them messed up before when they first release and then get sorted later, as though someone comes back and corrects the information. I've sorted them in my records (read downloads) and they seem to all be there. The odd part is, on the AH cards, card unique fronts & backs are on the same card file, imaged atop one another. Pretty straightforward otherwise. I'll always take a jumbled heap if the finished product isn't ready on new stuff!

I was wrong. The core set's QR code is actually: http://ffgapp.com/qr/MVC01
