Why Jango and Boba Fett should be recognized as Mandalorian

By MarvinGomes, in Star Wars: Destiny

Jango and Boba deserve to be recognized as Mandalorians. I must say it bothers me that I even need to explain why the Fetts need to be Mandalorian to begin with. Boba Fett is the reason why the Mandalorians were created in the first place. That one armor sparked an entire culture in one character.

The Clone Wars happened. The Mandalore Plot. Here’s the thing. Prime Minister Almec defensively says Jango was not a Mandalorian and was proven to be corrupt, so I don’t feel like his claims are legitimate “The Fetts aren’t Mandalorian” thing was disproven once the only guy who said as much was shown to be a conniving *** who flat-out lies to try to twist things to his benefit. I also see Jango being dismissed as a bounty Hunter as Satine trying to erase Mandalore’s past. So when Prime Minister Almec says “Jango Fett was a common bounty hunter. How he acquired that armor is beyond me.” He’s only following Satine’s orders of erasing Mandalorian culture of old.

Is there anything in the lore (old or new) that tells us Jango hailed from Mandalore? Its hard for me to claim I'm English just because I had some ancestor from England and went on vacation there once. As near as we can tell Boba grew up on Kamino or spent most of his growing up days on a space ship or even on Tatooine or bouncing around anywhere but Mandalore.

Jango, we don't have a ton of background on either unless its in the comics and such.

Wookieepedia (not the ultimate source of fact but still) claims "Jango Fett was a human male bounty hunter, widely regarded to be the best in the galaxy in the years preceding the Clone Wars. Although Fett wore a set of Mandalorian armor during his time as a bounty hunter, the government of Mandalore regarded him as a renegade and pretender. Recruited by the Sith Lord Darth Tyranus, Fett was relocated to the remote planet of Kamino where he served as the genetic template of the clone troopers for the Grand Army of the Republic. Unlike Fett, his clones lacked much of his independence, as they were designed to be entirely loyal to the Galactic Republic. Fett had only one request for the Kaminoans: the creation of Boba Fett, an unaltered clone whom he would raise as his own son"

The Fetts not being Mandaloreans isn't a lore thing or related to what Almec said. It's squarely down to George Lucas saying they're not Mandaloreans.

Yea it was George Lucas himself who declared that Boba and Jango were not Mandos. It's why it was stated as such in the Clone Wars. Dave Filoni explained this in one of the behind the scenes segments, that when they were making the Mandalorian episodes of TCW, the Fetts came up and that George Lucas clarified that they were not actual Mandalorians, Jango is just a bounty hunter who wore Mando armor, and we know that Boba was just a clone that Jango raised and eventually got his own armor too. So when they made the episodes Filoni added the bit about the Mandalorians stating Jango was not a true Mando.

I thought Jango was from New Zealand.
