E-Web and compel

By shuntley, in Rules

so according to the RRG you can move and standby and still attack with a weapon with cumbersome, which is counterintuitive because cumbersome means you cant move and shoot. so by that logic you should be able to compel the e-web to move then the e-web shoots. come anyone help clarify on if this is true or explain why one works but not the other

You can't just have the EWeb move & shoot with the main gun, free move or not. You can, however, move and standby; then have the standby trigger the full attack during an enemy's activation. It's pretty awkward and hasn't ever worked out for me (I've only tried once though, so...). Usually it's for area denial, and unless you've set up the perfect storm of standby weirdness your opponent can easily ignore the unit or remove the token with an attack from beyond standby range. It's mostly a rule for edge-cases.

so with ewebs the cumbersome only applies during its turn that is why the standby works as its not during its turn but outside of the ewebs activation.
Compel is during that units turn for a free move, which will still make the cumbersome part come into effect
Page 29
If a unit performs a move , except for a pivot, during its activation, it cannot perform an attack with a weapon that has the cumbersome keyword during that activation
the key word of this is A MOVE so compel give it a move and if it doesn't use this move to pivot it can't shoot but it can take a standby token

By what logic? You haven't provided any backing for your claim.

Just to be clear, Cumbersome means you can't move and shoot during the same activation.

The move from Compel happens during the e-web's activation (that's why it doesn't work), but the standby attack happens during another unit's activation (that's why it works).
