Recruitment Drive

By Rabobankrider, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny Beginner Game

Hey all

As some of you may know, I run a few pbp's here, and I am currently looking for some new recruits for a couple of my games. I am mainly looking for anyone interested in the Cyclone Squad games (Clone wars setting following a squad of clones), and Revan's War (old republic game following a team of jedi on the verge of the jedi civil war). I am happy to answer any questions on the games that you have, so if you're interested, please stick a post in here, or pm me. Hope to see some interest! :)

I'm new here and don't have that much experience with the system would be interested in either (unless you can only be a Clone in the Clone Trooper game in which case I'd only have one concept that might not mesh that well with a lot of people). So Questions:
- what experience level would we be talking about in terms of how much XP a character would start with?
- what is an expected posting rate?
- how many spots are open? I might have someone else who's could be interested as well
- already asked, but can you be a non-clone in the Cyclone-Squad game?
- is playing a Jedi a requirement for the Revan game?

Welcome! Don't worry about experience, you can learn on the go kind of thing with a ppb as there's no real rush time wise.

  • For the Revan's War game, it is starting xp plus 215xp as additional to bring characters up to the level of the others. For Cyclone Squad it is basic xp plus 45.
  • I usually aim for on average a post a week, but people often post more than that. If you can't post for whatever reason and you let me know, that's not a problem.
  • There are 2-3 slots in both games currently so others are welcome.
  • For Cyclone Squad, non-clone characters are possible, but they will have to be reviewed to see that they mesh ok. The main thing will be why they are serving in the GAR, if there's a good reason, there won't be a problem.
  • It is not a requirement to play as a jedi in Revan's War, as we have a mandalorian soldier and a droid in the ranks already.

Well call me interested (especially in the Cyclone Squad game).

@Xcapobl , glad to see you are interested! Is there anything you want to know?

Sounds good.

What roles are taken/needed in either game?

@Rabobankrider I might be interested in joining revans war as a Seeker with piloting skills. What equipment do Jedi characters start off with?

Cyclone Squad... Currently reading up on the IC and OOC threads.

Roll call, who is still active, and does the group have any needs?

Are the Clones species and Clone Soldier career from Rise of the Separatists and Fall of the Republic allowed? Specific Duties used?

Just a couple of questions to start off with. 😉

@Heratic Hex , you have the following roles in the games.

Cyclone Squad:

  • Juyo Berserker
  • Mercenary Soldier
  • Heavy
  • Vanguard

Revan's War:

  • Shien Expert
  • Seer
  • Investigator/Racer
  • Assassin/Martial Artist

I can work around whatever players want to play really (though I recommend avoiding duplicates so everyone has something to do).

@Sincereagape , sounds good! The equipment list is below:

If you want to play as a jedi, you start with the following equipment:

Jedi Utility Belt
Stim Pack x1
Comlink
Jedi Multi-Tool
Aquata Breather
Food Capsules (3days)

You also get either jdi armoured robes, or concealing robes depending on your playstyle.

You will also be able to create your own lightsaber using these rules:

  • Make a hard perception check. If you get a success you can get an attachment from this list http://swrpg.viluppo.net/equipment/attachments/category/86/ . If it is below 1,000 credits you can add it to the lightsaber automatically.
  • Make an average mechanic check. Success means you make the lightsaber hilt of your choice. If you fail just roll till you get at least 1 success. Advantages can be spent to improve its cosmetics, but 3 advantage reduces encumbrance by 1, 3 disadvantage does the opposite. Triumph increase the hard points by 1, while a crit fail reduces them by 1.

@Xcapobl , Edgehawk, Shlambate, Von3679 and Btmaja are the current members of Cyclone Squad. I tend to be able to work around the characters people want to play, so you can do whatever concept you want really. I had been originally using the mandalorian species spec for the others, but as I recently got Rise of the Separatists and Fall of the Republic, so if you want you can us the clone species spec instead. The same with the clone universal specs, although recruit fromt he AoR core book is an option as well.

Characters start with a free spec such as recruit or one of the clone specs, and then you can spend xp regularly on a second spec. This is so that characters who want to play medics or pilots can still take part in combat.

awesome! Thanks. I assume Illium based crystals? At the moment I"m thinking about creating a Duros - Ataru Striker/Navigator. Still deciding on species. Verpine looks fun too.

It will by illum crystals, yes. However later on you may be able to find others during missions etc. Both those options sound good to me, I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Ok, so I've been thinking a bit and here are some ideas I came up with for either campaign:

Cyclone Squad:
- First idea a Tusken Jedi (Padawan), I know there is already a Padawan with that group of clones, but it's not like the Jedi order never sends more than one :D I know Tusken is a bit unorthodox. I would use the one from Allies and Adversaries as a player species or just refluff the normal human (which she most likely would be considering how many Tusken are human) whichever you prefer. Also my first choice.
- the other idea I had was a "low life" loyal to the Republic. Someone with "unique" contacts and skills that the Republic may desire, but doesn't want to be directly associated with.

Revan's War:
- I'm thinking an Iktokchi Hired Gun Marauder (or something along those lines at least).
- I could see the Tusken Jedi fitting in here as well

@Heratic Hex , I had currently limited the number of jedi in the Cyclone Squad game to one due to the number of players. If other players do end up joining I will be able to reconsider that and see about a second padawan joining. The low life character could potentially work, assuming that they have a good reason to be working for the GAR in their backstory. The Tusken stats in Allies and Adversaries should work fine for your plans.

For Revan's War, both of those should work fine for the game.

@Rabobankrider That's fair enough, I like making characters so I'll build both.

One thing I actually forgot to ask: For Cyclone Squad, what year of the war is the current plot happening?

For Revan's War: Any important events to potentially keep in mind?

Also Duty/Obligation/Morality?

Gear for Non-Jedi?

Edited by Heratic Hex

The Cyclone Squad game is coming to the end of the first year of the clone wars, so 22, 14.3 BBY. Players will be entering just after the Coruscant Insurrection (by about a week) and the battle for Metalorn.

The Cyclone Squad game uses duty, but force users track morality as well.

Non clone characters can buy equipment as usual, clones begin with laminate armour, their choice of primary weapon based ion their spec, and either a heavy pistol or combat knife. They also get a thermal detonator, one piece of specialist equipment based on their spec and a military backpack.

In the Revan's War game, the game takes place roughly two years after the mandalorian war and the disappearance of Revan's fleet. However in the last couple of days an unknown force attacked the ship yards at Fornost, stealing a number of ships. The jedi believe Admiral Karath to be the traitor responsible and are about to move to arrest him.

This game uses morality for force users, while others use duty.

If you make a none jedi character, you get 15,000 credits to spend to give you a fair chance fighting alongside the jedi.

Awesome. Thanks for the details. One last question, do we get a mentor if we create Jedi characters, ergo: 5 experience off our first force power?

@Sincereagape , you can use the mentor benefit for the starting xp, and for 150xp after that, however it will not apply to the rest, as the starter players didn't have that opportunity, and it just keeps things a little more level.

@Sincereagape , @Heratic Hex and @Xcapobl , whenever you guys are ready feel free to send me the characters you guys want to play, and I'll give them a look over. :)

i'm meeting up with one of my players tonight to help with character creation for our table top game. i'll try and at least start my character alongside them. i'm a paper and pencil guy, who still likes to print out a character sheet and fill it out with a pencil and then post to SW sheets :)

Working on a friendly neighbourhood Clone here. 😉

I might be interested in the Revan's War campaign, but I'll have to do a bit of thread-reading first.

@Rabobankrider Does the quoted part above refer only to character creation for Cyclone Squad, or also to Revan's War? And does the "free spec" refer to the second one gained after the starting/first spec from a character's career?

@Rabobankrider Decided to roll a Mirialan male: Seeker - Navigator/?? to fill the missing pilot roll of the team. He has just returned from the outer rim and has seen the devastation they have caused. usually someone who tries to remain neutral in conflicts, he is looking for direction...

i'm in the process of making the character over the next day or two if time allows.

Sorry for the delay, I've been at a wedding.

@Xcapobl , looking forward to seeing it! I think I forgot to say, but clones can take a free universal spec during creation depending on the role they want to fill. I have gotten hold of the clone war supplements, so universal specs from there are usable, as are ones like recruit.

For anyone building force characters, they also get a free universal spec during creation. Specs such as padawan or force sensitive emergent are available as well.

@Bellona , glad to see you are interested! That quote does apply to the Revan's War game as well. What it means is that upon creation when you take the usual starting spec, you can take a universal spec with no additional cost.
