I've noticed a lot of people have been painting their range rulers, and they look pretty cool!

" These look pretty cool! " I thought, " How can I use this idea for evil? "

Like in Armada, premeasuring with the range ruler is allowed at any time, and the movement tool is only useable when moving, but, can I paint marks on my range stick to denote, say, movement speed 1, 2, ect? This kinda dips into the question of painting on the range ruler itself. Like i said, some of these paint jobs look nice, but what if that really cool mandalorian themed ruler really has the movement speeds painted on? Maybe that third little spot of yellow really marks speed 2?

Technically, if imagine painting it with the idea that you have pre-measured out paint marks on the ruler then you can say that it's technically cheating, and if you are a tournament you may want to be on the side of caution and not paint the ruler.

There is nothing from knowing that movement2 plus a trooper base is 1/16th or so of an inch off range 1 , or that a tauntaun unit can reach just short of range 3 by an inch or so with a double charge.

There's a bullet point in the Tournament Regulations that gives judges some leeway on this. It is arguably not legal.

Didn’t some post an article about the range rulers that showed what the move distances are on the marks that are already on them

I've noticed this as well. There is almost always a "nearby" mark on the ruler where certain movement templates would land.
