Disguised, condition "or" conditon

By Avatar111, in L5R LCG: Rules Discussion

Can you only bring in a disguised character replacing a non-unique character of the correct Trait (ie: disguised COURTIER) ?

Because the rule reference says: "replaces a non-unique character of the correct Trait or clan affiliation"
So I am wondering if you can play a disguised character on ANY non-unique character of the same clan.

thx!

Qualifiers

If card text includes a qualifier followed by multiple terms, the qualifier applies to each item in the list, if it is applicable. For example, in the phrase "each unique character and attachment," the word "unique" applies both to "character" and to "attachment."

So under Disguised, "correct" is the qualifier.
You need to replace a non-unique character with the correct Trait or correct clan affiliation.

Also, can you please remove the [Ruling] from your post's heading.
I use that to differentiate posts that have responses directly from FFG.
I don't want to confuse people, who may think this post has an 'official' answer, rather than an answer from a member of the community.

Thank you, that is what I thought. This makes these cards much easier to play.

Will adjust the title.

Just to clarify, Shosuro Miyako (Conflict) is an example of a card that uses Disguised (Clan affiliation).

Isawa Tadaka (Conflict) must be Disguised onto a non-Unique Shugenja, regardless of clan affiliation.
Shosuro Miyako must be Disguised onto a non-Unique non-Scorpion character.

Now you lost again, why Tadaka cannot be played on any non unique phoenix??

And for the lion one, Zentaro, it says disguised Courtier. But he can still be played on any non-unique lion character too, right?

Disguised is written as "Disguised X", where X can be either a Trait (Shugenja, Courtier) or a Clan Affiliation (non-Scorp on Miyako is only current example).

The way it is written is kind of shorthand for:
- it replaces a non-Unique character having the matching Trait, if the Disguised keyword is followed by a Trait. eg. Tadaka, Zentaro
or
- it replaces a non-Unique character having the matching Clan Affiliation, if the Disguised keyword is followed by a Clan Affiliation. eg. Miyako

Oof, you are almost as unclear as the rules lol!

Thanks for all the help though, appreciated.

Hiruma Yoshino - Disguised Bushi
Daidoji Kageyu - Disguised Courtier
Togashi Ichi - Disguised Monk
Akodo Zentaro - Disguised Bushi
Isawa Tadaka - Disguised Shugenja
Shosuro Ibuki - Disguised Courtier
Shosuro Miyako - Disguised non-Scorpion character
Shinjo Kyora - Disguised Cavalry

Shosuro Miyako is the odd one out. The other 7 only care about trait (Bushi, Courtier, Shugenja, Monk) and do not care about clan affiliation. Miyako only cares about clan (non-Scorpion) and does not care about trait.

To spell it out further, if you had a Lion deck with Crab splash, Akodo Zentaro could be revealed as a Student of War, Hiruma Skirmisher or a Wandering Ronin in Disguise since they are all Bushi so are all eligible targets. He CANNOT be revealed as a Ikoma Prodigy in Disguise since the Ikoma is a Courtier. It does not matter what clan affiliation they are because clan is not a condition of Zentaro's Disguise, only the Bushi trait is.
