Fire Support and Cover

By FearofaBlankPlanet, in Rules

I'm not sure if the forums have already addressed this query previously, but here goes.

Say I have a BARC speeder firing at a squad of B1's, flanking them so they're caught out of cover. The speeder's volley has Fire Support from a nearby unit of Clones, but the B1's would have heavy cover from the Phase I Clones in their current position.

Do the B1's gain cover from the overall attack? And if so, what level of cover and why?

In that case the B1's don't have cover. That's because the Fire Support unit is only adding dice to the original attack pool, in which you checked line of sight from the BARC speeder (you only are instructed to check line of sight from the Fire Support unit's minis to see if they can add a die or not).

Wow, this makes rocket launchers seem important for droids and the BARC speeder a priority target.

Thanks, I thought so. Having a BARC speeder or two with the RPS-6 for firing out of arc may be a good addition to the list then :)

I don't believe the BARC speeder has armor

It does have a red defense dice with 5 health

and cover 1, but no armor so the impact from the rocket launcher matters not, the better dice pool helps though

A cheap exhaust weapon that gives you a good boost to your dice pool - as long as you are in LOS of your preferred target if it’s forced to fire!

pair the unit with HQ uplink and you have some good efficiency for that recover action
