Do models that are engaged touching a point like in key postions still control the point or is it contested even if the opposing models are not in contact with the point?

From the Key Positions card: "At the end of the game, for each terrain piece with an objective token, the player who has the most unit leaders in base contact with that terrain piece gains 1 victory token."
