Firing Arc Templates - coming anytime soon?

By Nativesmith, in Rules

Please forgive my ignorance if this is a topic already discussed, but I’m wondering if there are any plans in the works to release official firing arc templates for those of us who do more than simply paint the bases of medium and large bases. Basing medium or large units while retaining the carved firing arcs looks bad every time.

I bought some 3rd party widgets and they’re 100% crap.

Can we get some official templates for use in organized play?

No, there aren't (that we know of), and no, they don't. It's fine to not like the look of it, but to say that everyone else's stuff "looks bad every time" is a little dickish.

Which aren't considered official, and can be ruled as inadmissible for official events. Per the official tournament document, the miniature base must have arc markings on it.

Players may modify or replace individual bases, but the modified or new base must work with official movement tools, have generally the same diameter and size as the original, and clearly and accurately delineate any firing arcs that miniature has.

Fair enough. I've seen such comments directed at FFG as if it isn't practically industry standard is all.

I will capitulate that greed is the industry standard.

Just check with the TO before hand if they are allowed to be used, if they say yes go for it

The only complication is that requiring third party firing arc templates means the markings on the base are covered, so if a TO doesn't allow the templates, then you don't have any way of checking firing arcs without rebasing.
