Which character is on the other side of the new card backs?

No Maho here, don't need a Jade Champion.

Are you sure about that?

There may very well be maho, but you're looking in the wrong place - Lion, Crane and Imperial are the most likely maho users. But you still don't need any Jade Magistrates - you've got Asako Inquisitors (and Kuni Witch Hunters, I suppose).

I would also assume that's the Topaz Champion armor. I believe that's suppose to be the previous Topaz champ from before the beginner box starts. It looks to match her description. I like that they are giving us low cost characters for the pregens that participated in the tournament in the starter box. I think that's really cool. I'd like to see more characters from the published adventures get cards.

There's a Crane mon on the helmet in the new art.

The previous Topaz Champion per the Beginners Box was a Dragon female. The Crane NPC contestant in the Topaz was a female with half white, half black hair, so not this character. The Crane PC contestant in the Topaz was a male.

It could be the Topaz Champion armor, but putting a Crane mon on the helmet would be weird...especially for a Dragon wearing it.

...but not entirely unreasonable. The Championship is run by the Crane Clan and awarded by the Kakita Duellist dojo's senior sensei. I can see having the Crane mon on the armour for the same reason that many shugenja wear the Isawa mon, irrespective of Clan.

People of other clan wear/ bear the isawa Mon because they had the privilege of going to the isawa school and learn their techniques.

I don't know why people going nuts, it's someone with the crane Mon in blue armour. Not very weird, no?

if she had a phoenix , lion or scorpion Mon ....

Actually, people of other Clans sometimes wear the Isawa mon because they are honouring the part that Isawa played in creating the shugenja tradition, and they will do it even if they didn't go near the Isawa school - it's a personal decision.

People are interested in who she might be - there are only 3 other people who have been featured on province backer cards - the Crane Champion; her brother; the Imperial Heir. Who is this completely unknown that is in that exalted company?

It's not about honor, it's pride, you have been in the more exclusive school in all rokugan, and you want to every one know.

Which tradition played Isawa? , the one of cutting a little bit the wrist? šŸ¤£

Really wich clan honour them?

Unicorn: f*** it, we have meishodo.

Lion: because this morons I have to go battle, with how well I was praising our ancestor in the temple.

Dragon: f*** it, we have alchemy.

Crab: yeah, we share information but they are gaining more than we think.

Scorpion: f*** it, we have tejina.

Crane: yeah we share ancestor but don't tell to the isawa the ishiken that we have.

Your missing third eye togashi, Moto with a khopesh nĀ°8, akodo zentarō who's only know by his mother, a shinobi fan of naruto, and a newkugan porcelain doll face in pink kimono.

The Topaz Armor is traditionally that color. It is not a color associated with any of the clans. Crane is much lighter, Crab is more grey and/or darker. So any clan could be the topaz champion with the same color armor, just with a different mon on their helmet (or in old L5R, no mon)

If I have a penny every time I see an artistic license...

Daidoji usually use a darker blue, see for example brash samurai.

Did you see the dragon Mon in agasha sumiko armour or the lion Mon in toturi ECh amor? I don't know why put a clan Mon in a jewel armor.

In ol5r topaz armor were more darker and with his own Mon in the chest
