New Ruling on Height?

By NarbNarbNarb, in Rules

Hey everyone! I'm having a hard time finding something, so I wanted to put it to the forums before I submit something to FFG.

I played a game last week where a friend said height should be measured using the movement tool instead of the range ruler. He cited a stream ("Worlds or Regional" were his words) where a judge made the ruling. I'm having absolutely no luck finding a clip or any mention at all online, and was wondering if anyone had heard anything about it. The Rules Reference seems pretty clear about this under the section pertaining to height, but I wanted to verify before I made a fuss about it.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Seems to be a consensus that the RRG still holds up. Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond and clear this up!

Hmm, if that did happen then the judge made a mistake. Page 36:

"Height is a vertical measurement of objects on a battlefield. An
object’s height is measured using the range ruler."

You can find that in the Rules Refference, it's the first line under "Height":

Height is a vertical measurement of objects on a battlefield. An object’s height is measured using the range ruler.

He should of meant should be measured using movement tool lol; for saying it is means clearly not even knowing the pure basics of the game sadly for one going to worlds or regionals. 😕

Next time just have him point to where it says that in the rules. Have him do that any time he references a stream or podcast or whatever making a radical rules change. I've heard people say some crazy things attached to "I heard it in an interview," "that's how I heard they did it at Worlds," etc.

That referee or your friend was clearly drunk during the stream. 😜
