No Acclamator? No Torrent?

Nope. Check your info again. The Z-95 was introduced during the Clone Wars, and was used by Clone pilots.
Tramp Graphics? Yes. Yes, the Z-95 was introduced in the Clone Wars. But it appeared in production a few years (at least in terms of the CW animated series) later ... along with the ARC-170.
I assume we'll get those ARC-170 stats in the CotR book...
But, again, it's unforgivable to ignore the Acclamator and the Torrent in this first volume, as both of those vessels appeared right out of the gate. *shaking head*

The Clone Wars only lasted three years in universe.
The structure of this book is kind of weird it's part splat, part era, part sector, and reprints too many stat blocks from other sources wasting page space. It's like they tried to squash a core book into 144 pages. I was expecting a lot more droids, npc's, ships and gear, like at least 50 pages more of that stuff. Also "Heroic Style play" is the same as Knight level play, troupe style play has no crunch or management advice, systems etc. No continuation of the Jedi as per the force tradition rules so no advice on how to integrate FAD specs with the Jedi Class. The section on the two warring factions is light.
Also introducing the Barrel roll talent at this stage of the game means that a revision all the old pilot trees is in order. So eventually they will need to release a rules revision to clean up some systems in this spalling line.

Finally got this book today. And, as usual, FFG makes its supplements look AMAZING.
That said, I did have a few issues:
(1) Why the Scavenger career? Were folks really clamoring for this one? And what does it have to do with the Clone Wars? I cannot recall any scavenger-type playing any kind of serious role (or any kind of role really) in the prequels or CW animated series.
(2) The first interior illustration shows a fleet of Acclamator ships lifting off. Yet no Acclamator stats in this book?!?
(3) The second illustration (and a few others in this volume) show Torrent fighters. Yet no Torrent stats in this book?!?
(4) We receive stats for the Z-95 Headhunter that, according to the CW animated series, entered production around the same time as the ARC-170 - a few years into the war. Yet no ARC-170 stats (which I assume will be placed in the subsequent volume CotR?) and no stats for, again, the Acclamator and Torrent that were participating in the Clone Wars right out of the gate. I just don't get this one... *shaking head*
(5) No STAP stats?
(6) No stats for the clone template, Jango Fett?
Sigh. I realize I must seem like a Debbie Downer, but this was all very frustrating. Hopefully, CotR takes care of point #s 2-6.
Anyway, my two cents.

Jango didnt even survive 1 movie. so he is not that important. the Torrent is in savage spirits. There was a whole series of episodes with R2 being captured by a scavenger,

Besides, if you really need Jango’s stats, just use Boba’s. Heck, you could probably use a Clone Commando’s stats for that matter, given that they’re all genetically identical to Jango.

Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor, K-2SO, and Krennic didn't survive even 1 movie. They all get entries in a book. So did Wedge despite having less screen time in multiple films than Jango had in one.

And we know more about what Jynn and Cassian were doing before rogue one. And Jango would be more useful pre rise of the Seperatists. Jango is dead before this books timeline

Technically, Jango died at the Battle of Geonosis, which was the opening salvo of the Clone Wars.
Plus, Jango had a hand in training the first few batches of clone troops and, well, his image is on one of the interior pages of RotS. So, yeah, it would have been nice to get the fully-statted lowdown on the guy.
However... Tramp Graphics has the next-best solution: Use Boba's stats. Stinks. But that's what we've got.
So interesting little observation, in that the sidebar on page 7 discussing having PCs enter play with more XP and credits than the norm, what was Knight Level play has now been dubbed Heroic Level play, and that said PCs get 9000 credits worth of gear as opposed to 9K of gear or a basic lightsaber.
Also, I like the options presented for starting PCs in the Clone Soldier and Jedi careers to get a highly discounted "starter package" of gear for 1000 or 2500 credits respectively. Thus, your Jedi/Padawan can start with a basic lightsaber by taking the +2500 credits Morality option, but won't have the extra starting XP that other PCs might have, and Clone Soldiers can have a rifle, some grenades, and clone trooper armor for 1000 credits. The impression I get is the intent is those gear options are intended for characters who have those specific careers, although it's probably not much of a problem to allow other F&D characters to get a basic lightsaber for the same discounted cost.
Not sure if starting at Knight/Heroic Level disqualifies a PC from getting those discounted gear packages or not, but with the book pricing a basic lightsaber at 8000 credits, it is possible for a Heroic Level Jedi/Padawan to have their lightsaber, a Jedi utility belt (priced at 800 credits), heavy (or concealing) robes, and a couple stimpacks just from that 9000 credits gear allowance. I could see it being intended that Heroic Level Clone Soldiers and Jedi having to purchase their gear under the normal rules and costs, with the discounted packages meant to be a trade-off for a standard starting character's beginning resources (Jedi PCs don't get extra starting XP from Morality, Clones have to lower their starting Duty), but it's likely left vague enough for GMs to make their own decision.

Torrent is available already. Savage Spirits if I recall correctly.

Probably in the next book, but the ARC140 is already published, and pretty close.

Odd it's missing. Easy to stat up, but yeah, weird.

To be fair, he was dead by the time of the war...

Curious, does the Clone Soldier Career actually state anywhere that only Clones can take the career? (Similar to the Retired Clone Trooper Universal Specialization)
Nope, it's pretty much implied, but not a mechanical requirement. Ironically if you are being a stickler for the wording, the clone species, since it is not Clone (human) or similiar, does not qualify for the Retired Clone Trooper.
Can someone spoil this phalanx thing I've been hearing about? It might be something that would be a huge help for me on Monday's game, but I don't get my copy of the book until Tuesday

Treat each droid phalanx as an endless minion group that automatically regenerates to full strength at the top of each round. Your actions determine whether the phalanx as a whole can advance or not.
For example:
1. Two droid phalanxes advance on your position. The width of each phalanx is four droids wide, so you treat them as two minion groups of four.
2. Every droid you destroy is replaced at the top of each round.
3. The phalanxes take one maneuver towards you each turn.
4. If you destroy the same number of droids in a phalanx's "rank width" (in this case, four) in a single round, you prevent that phalanx from advancing.
5. If you destroy twice that number or more, you push the phalanx back by one maneuver.
6. You would need to destroy eight droids in a round to hold off two phalanxes with ranks of four droids wide.
There is some additional stuff about what happens when the phalanx actually reaches you and over runs your position, but I don't want to put everything up. The above is the bare bones of the mechanic.
I had the chance to use this in my game last night and it works very well for a group of PCs trying to hold a fixed position.
Edited by KualanThe phalanx rules are one of the things I was most excited to contribute to the book. I'm glad they're seeing some use already!

Thanks for your work on it - it was a nice bit of luck that the book arrived the same week I had the perfect scenario to try the mechanic out.
Combined with some Clone Wars music and a looping sound effect of droids marching it really helped capture the essence of those countless scenes in the TV show where just endless rows upon rows of droids advance on our heroes.
Obviously you can't say anything at this stage, but I'm hoping there's more "sidebar features" like this inspired by the show in Collapse.
Yeah, standing rule about commenting on future products, but certainly I'm always trying to add stuff that lends mechanical flavor to sessions related to the theme of whatever book it might be.
Truth be told, I'm just thrilled these rules got in. It was a pretty random idea, and it wasnt really related to the section I worked on (factions). So kudos to tim cox for finding space for them in the GM campaign section.
That said, this idea of finding a way to run a holding action combat encounter is something I've tried and toyed with before (to limited success). That said, I think the phalanx rules work, and while the name and concept fits really thematically with battle droids, they can obviously work with any minion group you want to present as an endless horde (these rules would be perfect for a genesys zombies game, for instance).

This is the kind of thing that *really* ticks me off.
You don't go about making a consolidated Clone Wars volume and then make the excuse (although I know this is you, not FFG) that you can find the stats for something seen in tons of source material - and in various illustrations throughout said volume - in some random book elsewhere.
While I see a ton of apologists for this kind of thing on these boards, I guarantee when we're on to the next publisher - or the next edition? - this kind of thing will indeed be a criticism of the line.

I get your point, but I would rather have as little reprinted material as possible if it means more page space for new content.

This is exactly what I was hoping for!!!
The party is going to be taking part in their first large-scale battle tomorrow, and their role is to recapture a listening post from an enemy strike team, then hold their position until reinforcements arrive. The phalanx rules will be perfect for this!!
