New occupiers are longer than range 1, in battleline they can not fit in deployment zone unless sideways and pretty much giving opponent extra impact. I was unable to find it but is there a rule that if the back of a model is on board edge it can go beyond deployment zone? Deploying sideways feels lame, but did so last game. Just checking in with the rule gurus.

From page 29 of the RRG under "Deployment":
» Each mini’s base must be completely within the boundary of a deployment zone—the base cannot cross a deployment zone’s imaginary boundary line formed by deployment markers and battlefield edges.
EDIT: So sideways it is!
Edited by Caimheul1313It hurts because Leia, Veers, snipers and units with range 4 (since battleline means move plus shoot is in range) all gain impact turn one. Kinda forces you to activate tank first, which I dont mind with free pivot, but just felt really goofy rule or design.

Only really for Battle Lines, since the other deployments have placements that will cause your tank to point towards at least some of your opponent's units. Depending on the terrain, you might be able to hide the tank out of LoS from at least some units.
Is the tank's base really longer than 6 inches? That does seem like an "oops" to be altered by an FAQ later.
aim to not play Battle lines and Disarry, thats 2/6 to worry about.
I'm sure it will get an update in the RRG so that it mtaches X-wing Deployment (where a large base can be at any angle as long as the back of the base touches the back of the game area
Don't forget about Advanced Positions! That's 3/5 deployments to think about.
I'm not so sure it needs correction. In fact, it may be counter-intuitive but deploying with your side exposed maximizes your forward movement! First, deploy with your side edge touching the DZ edge. Then, when you perform your first move action, the free pivot you get would put your front outside of the DZ without your back touching the board edge. You would then move forward from that "advanced position"

I thought any movement that puts part of your base off the table edge removes unit. So doing pivot before moving could cause you to lose the unit?

Remember that you pivot around the center. When you deploy with your side touching the forward edge of a range-1 DZ (NOT the board edge) the pivot does not cause you to go off the board. You can verify this by trying it out on the table.
Is this confirmed I mean has someone grabbed calipers? I was using one on TTS the other day and was able to fit the base (not the model) into a range 1 deployment zone.
I don't believe whether or not the actual model is off the table/board matters much or sticks out, it is the base that matters; so if the base fits then you're alright.
Edited by TokousYeah, they had to use the base rule in Armada otherwise the ISDs would have had to be shrunk.
Edited by Zrob314i rely don't think they need to change anything with the rules. what this will do is force you to make hard decisions with your units and how to better deploy them, also get bigger terrain pieces that can help block sections of the field from turn 1 bombardment.

Shouldn't that have been included in the update which added Transport if they were going to change deployment for the tank?
Of course, as I say this, there are currently no rules for Armaments.
I don't believe the creators of this game some how without knowing and testing mind you, made a unit that was too big to deploy or the way they want it to be able to be deployed. I personally don't know the actual dimensions of this unit, though if the base can fit range 1, then this entire thread should be considered void. If the base is actually larger than range 1 (Not the unit cause that doesn't entirely matter in this case) then that is interesting and odd at the same time, a major dilemma indeed which should be explained in the rules. Even if not, it should be then played in a way it can based on the rules. Since, it is intentional. Everything game wise has a merit and flaw, for if it had a merit merit then it is unbalanced and screws up the game. And when it comes to it, even if it must deploy sideways, whatever, it is meant to do so. Then, just deploy it sideways in a way using terrain blocking its sight.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I think the TTS base size is even confirmed by people who got it early at Adepticon.

I haven't found that measurement yet, at some point I need to update my table of conversion of template movement to movement in inches that I end up posting once every few months to help answer questions 😛

The one on TTS was not correct, just an estimate to allow people to use it quickly. It was updated yesterday or today.
Possibly play with more line of sight blocking terrain so your tank has somewhere to hide on turn 1?
