(( again I roll earth 2 and theology 2. My ring dice are success with strife and a blank. My skill dice are success with strife and success.. I see no reason to keep anything but the success. That should be another TN 4 fitness test for the boar or it’s knocked prone.))

Aruzhan grimaces with the effort of maintaining the invocation. The boar tumbles as the ground collapses under it, enveloping it in a forest of stone spikes, tearing at the boar's thick hide.

::Air (3)/Ranged (1) produces: a success, an option, and option with strife, and an explosion with strife. I keep: the success, the explosion (w/strife) & the option. Explosion produces an option . For a total of 2 success, 2 options & 1 strife (Becomes 3 strife). I would normally turn this into a critical hit with my two options, but the boar is already out of fatigue and already takes a severity 3 critical strike. So I want to use them to assist the next person who attacks the boar::

Indeed. Incapacitated isn't 'down' it just means that (unless you have a special rule to the contrary, like the Wounded Boar) you are restricted to actions which don't require checks. The three which are probably the most use are:

  1. Calming Breath - unlike @Void Crane I wouldn't actually recommend this one as Kenshin is 3 fatigue over his endurance and hence the boar (with Dying 3 ) will be dead before you recover.
  2. Assist - lets you assist the next person to attack - Presumably Hekasu. This represents you still trying to fight - not well enough to matter on your own, but enough to aid an ally.
  3. Maneuver - Allowing you to move two range bands instead of one to get behind someone who's not incapacitated.

I am already assisting the next attack ...

::I don't know how M.G. wants to run "healing" after the fight -as a GM anything reasonable is within his prerogative- but automatic free healing of composure and stamina isn't a part of the rules as I understand them. That's my FYI. You should do what you think Kenshin would.::

((I feel like the best thing I can do for now is to continue to try to immobilize the boar, so i’ll keep up using grasp of earth. Ring dice are 2 exploding success with strife. Skill dice are exploding success with strife and a success. I keep one ring die and one skill die, each with exploding success and strife. They explode into one success with strife, which I don’t keep, and one opportunity, so my final total is 2 successes, 1 opportunity, and I gain 2 strife putting me at. 7 / 8 strife. I use the opp to try to immobilize the boar.))

Yoshi's On cracks as he looks on in obvious horror to the sounds the boar is making in its death-throes. Maybe the inhuman noises of the boar remind of things on the Wall he'd rather forget...

Yoshi's horse backs up 1 range band as he fires again. The arrow hits.

Explosion becomes another success with strife. That becomes a total of 3 successes, 3+2=5 (!) Strife & 1 option. I kick the option forward till next round. The boar gets hit again with a severity 3 critical from another arrow... Yoshi was at 8/10 on strife. He finishes the round at 13/10 and is compromised.::

So basically the best thing we can do now is back off and let it die, because stabbing it over and over is less damaging than doing nothing?

It's not that it's less damaging than doing nothing, but killing it any faster than it's dying anyway is hard .

The special rule Sustaining Fury makes actually finishing anything off really awkward because you can't get that +10 severity for strikes against an unconscious target. Theoretically, it could be switching rings and you'd need to keep wounding the new ring, but I've been sticking with Fire because that's appropriate to the animal and situation rather than because it's tactically sensible.

It's got Dying (2 Rounds) so 'achieving anything' means inflicting Dying (1 round) - which means a severity 14+ critical.

Which was possible - just about - for you; a katana hitting an enraged target is severity 9 base, so you'd need 1211841275_OpportunitySmall.png.acf41343 1211841275_OpportunitySmall.png.acf41343 1211841275_OpportunitySmall.png.acf41343 1211841275_OpportunitySmall.png.acf41343 1211841275_OpportunitySmall.png.acf41343 in addition with Razor-edged. If You, Yoshi and Kenshin had focused on assisting one another to deliver one big critical rather than three small ones per turn , you'd get enough bonus skill dice for that not to be unreasonable (I'm not including Aruzhan because she has been mostly keeping the thing down and any damage she did was pretty much a side benefit), especially if you'd unmasked by becoming enraged yourself, but at this point the odds are stacked against you. You might as well back off. Even if the boar staggers back to its feet the odds of it actually hitting anyone are basically zero as it needs an astronomical TN to hit anyone and it's compromised so can't keep 1521230551_ExplosiveSuccessSmall.png.2cc on its ring dice.

If people want to join it there and fall back, I'm okay with 'fast forwarding' through the next couple of turns.

Yoshi slides into water stance & dismounts.

'Get it together Yoshi." Get it together!" While circling, the big samurai bangs the side of his helmet with his fist twice.

The boar's thrashing steadily becomes less pronounced as it bleeds out. Eventually, it fades to nothing more than twitching, and even that stops within a few moments more.

The forest is - finally - silent and still again, and the shocked ronin can gather themselves.

This is the end of a conflict scene so if you have strife or fatigue, reduce it to half your composure or endurance respectively.

Kenshin then picks his sword up and sheathes it, looking at the floor as he did so, his fist tightening around his sword hilt.

It takes a few minutes to calm the horses, though the forest remains quiet the ronin do so.

I'll ask for someone to perform a TN2 Survey/Survival to keep an eye out for anything else in the area

If someone wants to look over the boar's carcass, it's a TN2 survey/medicine to examine (from a respectful and 'clean' distance), or a TN0 (i.e. no check required) but a trivial breach of Honour to poke around in the wounds physically

"The boar was wounded when we first saw it. There must be something, or someone, else nearby." Hekasu sheathes his katana in his best Kakita-esque manner as he did at the end of the practice skirmish. "Yoshi-san, I'll help you look around."

Untrained in either skill, and with a TN penalty for my water actions, I'll just use my 'action' to provide assistance to someone on the survival roll, if that's alright.
