Even after I have equipped an Astromech the upgrade is not present on the list.

I reported this in the Bug Report thread. I have found that it shows up in Extended format but not in Hyperspace Format

Thanks for the info. So does this mean it's not Hyperspace legal?

I just found the answer to my own question. The generic upgrade points PDF lists them as Hyperspace legal. So just a bug in the squad builder then.

Great, once they get this fixed I have to update my custom formats for my A&M alternative format. :angry:
