[Ruling] Make an Opening

By Bayushi Shunsuke, in L5R LCG: Rules Discussion

The card reads:

"... that character gets –X/–X until the end of the conflict, where X is the difference between the bid on your honor dial and that of your opponent."

Is the difference an absolute value, so bids of 5 and 1, will result in X being 4, regardless of which player made which bid?
(There are arguments that the difference could be -4, so the card applies a -(-4) modifier, thus adding 4 to the skills.

The difference is an absolute value. If the players bid 5 to 1, it doesn’t matter which player bids which number.
