Basic operative rules

By RaRarlo, in Rules

Couple of softy questions from a noob.

I understand that an operative gives order to themselves, but I don’t understand how they do it or when they do it in relation to when a commander gives his orders during the turn.

When would the pips come into play on the operative cards? Perhaps some generic explanation on how to use one of bobas or chewies cards during a turn would help.

Thanks!

When you playa a boba card you use the pips just like if you played a non-boba card to determine who is going first.

You're only playing one card.

You can give an order to anyone listed on the card as long as they are within range 3 (Han, Leia and Luke can't equip comms so they have to be within 3)

Boba only gives orders to himself. If you play a Chewbacca card and you don't have the appropriate commander in your army (through death or oversight) you won't be getting any benefit

So for that turn the person giving the orders is the operative, not any of your commanders.

If I play common cause and you play son of skywalker then we have to have a roll off because we both played a 1 pip card.

If you play Whipcord Launcher and I play Sorry About the Mess we don't have a roll off because I played a 0 pip card.

So if I’m playing with boba and palpatine, I replace palps 3 command cards with bobas? Using bobas 3 along with ambush, push, standing orders, and assault?

Select 6 cards (2 of each 1, 2, 3 pip value) from amongst the basic, Palp and Boba, in that instance.

Then add standing orders for a 7th card.

Thanks for the help!

You could take both Boba's and Palpatine's 3-pip cards if you wanted to, and not take Assault.

I would recommend you read the rules.
