Guardian rules with esteemed leader

By Funny Defcon, in Rules

You have imperial guards and the emperor with esteemed leader.

The guards would have guardian 3 with esteemed leader from the emperor but who's defence dice and surges do they roll if the emperor get 3 hits against him.

Which one is correct?

#1 All 3 hit use the guards red dice

or

#2 2 hit use guards red dice and 1 hit uses emperors red die with his surge

Thank you in advance

Guardian ALWAYS uses the dice of the guarding unit. In this case neither #1 nor #2 is correct since Esteemed leader only gives guardian to corps units and the Royal Guards are special forces. But you can place a unit of regular stormtroopers near the Emperor to guard for him using their die.

Everything @SailorMeni said is correct, your original premise is faulty ๐Ÿ˜‰ However, just to address the other part of your question - Keywords with a value (Guardian X) are additive from different sources. So just like equipping Stormtroopers with Targeting Scopes will give them Precise 2, a unit that already has Guardian X that received the effect of Esteemed Leader would add that value of Guardian for how many hits they may cancel.

Trick question. IRG are not impacted by Esteemed Leader because they are not a corps unit. The guards still have guardian 2

Why are you confused @Turan ? The Esteemed Leader card says "While you are defending, each friendly corps (emphasis mine) trooper unit at range 1 gains GUARDIAN 1."

IRG are special forces. Thus esteemed leader does not give them GUARDIAN 1 .

Because it was clearly not a trick question, but an error on the part of the OP. And that error had already been addressed in the first reply 14 hours before your post ๐Ÿคจ Thus, I was confused as to why it was necessary to say again.
