Skill Challenges

By Lorne, in Rules Questions

I didn't see anything in the CRB about skill challenge encounters. Did I overlook them? If they weren't included, any good experience or guidance running them in this system?

An Intrigue in the conflict chapter is basically a skill challenge.

You could come up with the same system, using momentum points gain depending on the skill used (set some choices of skills, set the TNs if they are not competitive checks) etc. And set a timer or failure clause.

Seems like a pretty good way to build a skill challenge while staying within the core rules.

The social combat doesn't actually require the goal to be social...

So, yeah, as Avatar111 says, use that system, possibly with Nature taking a turn and hassling people, for skill checks.

It's how it works in Mouse Guard, and that's an excellent source to steal from.

by skill challenge being a sequence of skill checks to pass or fail? It can be a non-conflict scene; but the rule for momentum points is still sensible, different approaches vary the tn for each stage and I think the opportunity of one player assisting the next still exists.
