Ranks for units

By azeronbloodmoone, in Rules

So i've been reading and rereading the rules and I am confused on something that hasn't really come up as far as i know and i didn't see anything in the offical rules that counter it.
for force choke it says (in the new rules) can't choke a commander rank or operative rank trooper mini, that is simple to understand.

for commander it starts out as a named commander, but when a named commander dies and you have no other commander in play you "promote" a corps unit and replace the corps pog with the commander pog give it a commander promotion token and

A unit that has been promoted to commander does
not retain its previous rank. It is considered to be a
commander and to have the rank of commander for all
game effects and game play purposes
that is directly from the rules. so the question is would force choke not work on the new commander unit, if it does why would it as that is a contradicting force choke says it can't target commanders, yes its not a named commander but those symbols are ranks not unit type.

Force Choke can't target Commanders. Didn't you even say explicitly that? What's the question?

Force choke could not be used against a mini that's been promoted to Commander.

So aside from the fact that you don't actually ask a question...your question seems to be based on the presumption that Force Choke does work on a promoted commander. Except it doesn't. Where have you seen this, or who told you it did? It very plainly doesn't, from the text you quoted from the rules.

Question: Bold text:
answer: no, force choke would not work on the new commander unit. Anyone who told you differently was ignorant of the rules (as you have shown) or a cheater.
