Assigning Wounds on Multi-Unit Models and Leaders

By SirCormac, in Rules

So here's a question that I came up with yesterday and have not dealt with in a game yet but with so many more multi-wound models, I am sure will come up more for me soon.

Let's say someone is shooting at my Royal Guard which has no wound assigned to it yet. The only mini they can see is the leader, and 1 hit sneaks in, giving a wound to that model. Now someone shoots my unit, but this time can see the whole unit, and a damage sneaks in.

So here's my question. Generally, you never assign wounds to a leader unless it is the last mini left, but you are also supposed to assign wounds in multi-wound models to a mini that already has wounds. So, there are two options here:

1. The Leader rule takes precedence and you assign 1 wound to someone else, so you have 1 wound on the leader and 1 wound on another mini.

2. The Wound rule takes precedence and you assign 1 wound to the leader, remove that mini, and then replace another one of the minis with the leader mini.

Thanks in advance for the help!

#2 is the answer. It's actually explicit in one of the bullet points in the wound rules on page 58 (of the updated RRG from this week).

Quote

A mini with at least one wound token assigned to it is
wounded. When assigning wound tokens, wounded minis
must be chosen to suffer wounds before minis that do not
have wound tokens. If the unit leader is wounded, it must
be chosen to suffer wounds before minis that do not have
wound tokens.
If two or more minis in the same unit are
wounded, the unit with more wounds must be chosen to
suffer wounds before minis with fewer wounds.

oops, mixed up 1 and 2...

Had not realised there was a new updated RRG.
Is there a reason why they have kept the older version online?

Thanks

Thanks! I figured it was in there somewhere, but I have trouble finding stuff in the RRG.
