Clarification on crit hits needed

I can't see a third, but opportunity is spent before success is counted. Page 23. Damage is usually success linked.

Which leaves the sequence thus

  • Opportunity
    • crit hit with Strike action (2 opp) - note that it is OppOpp, not OppOpp+
    • opportunity derived damage without the ability to defend
  • Success:
    • most attack actions when target cannot defend
    • some attack actions which directly inflict a critical strike

I don't see room for a third; I'm genuinely curious where Avatar111 thinks a third can happen.

spinning blade kata for another damage.

Avatar111 can always make it happen.

The first line I can agree with. Rank 2, needs Vigilance opp to strike. But 2 S +4 opp is a hard spend, even at 5 dice with a reroll.

The second? nope. Unless you're cheating.

After all, I watched a player, this saturday just past, get nothing but successes on a roll where all she needed was opportunity. (and another player, the opposite on Sunday. Needed successes to get damage past armor, and rolled nothing but opportunity, two turns in a row... with an applicable Distinction, no less.)

On a compromised target though, it’s quite possible ;)

2 successes and 3 opps - boom boom.

Yeah compromised, or low vigilance, or with the right setup.

No big deal for a relatively experienced samurai.
