Entering difficult terrain

By YuriPanzer, in Rules

Hello there!

As you know, starting, moves or finishes a movement with a mini in the unit on difficult terrain lowers the maximum speed in 1 (to a mínimum of 1) RRG page 8.

Question is:

I'm close but out of dense woods (area terrain, difficult). Pick movement tool speed 2, place it next to the unit leader and I see that I can enter the woods. But then I can't use the speed 2 because I would be ending movement on the terrain, right? But speed 1 tool leaves the leader outside the woods.

So I could do this 2 possible options:

1- Do a partial speed 2 move and finish at the border of the forest. Minis should be in cohesion but OUTSIDE the woods.

2- perform a speed 1 move, so the leader is out of the area of the woods, but minis can be placed in cohesion INSIDE the woods.

3- move away from the forest, there might be ewoks...

What do you think?

I'll do what I have to do to get the benefit of the cover. If the enemy is on the other side of the area terrain then I'll use the 2-move, but if I need to duck into the area terrain then I'd use the 1-move. Whether I'm trying to get to an objective o otherwise need to maximize movement would be taken into account as well.

@arnoldrew but I mean if those options were valid, rules wise. If I do partial 2, minis can't get into. If I do speed 1, minis can get in.

Yeah, options 1 and 2 are both legal.

If you can’t impersonate a diety, option 3 is probably the smartest thing to do, though.
