Btw got a clear answer on if Boba Fett base counts on or not post in a new thread.
Rules Clarification: Terrain that Covers Mini's Head, but not Base
So I'm thinking about this whole thing, and the original example of the s-foils or the picture I showed above.
So I'm guessing that the reason behind the pregame terrain designation of cover and the occlusion rule is to keep the game from devolving into a "is there cover or not" argument that eats time, leads to bad feelings and is ultimately no fun. I mean we have two hours for a regulation game and getting to rules arguments means less actual play.
Isn't it then better to go for the easier method of all this.
This piece give troopers and speeder bikes heavy cover, full stop. This piece gives troopers light cover but not AT-RTs or Speeder bikes, full stop.
Is there occlusion, Yes/No? Is the attacking unit leader touching the terrain? Move on and roll dice.
From my perspective there plenty I'm going to forget, and plenty of other edge cases to argue over in the middle of a game. I'm coming to be of the mind that tending toward to more generous definition of cover is the better way to play the game.
well there shouldn't really be that many does it have cover pre-discussion any more. it should follow as this now:
for troopers and ground vehicles only use of laser pointer will help in this area:
1. Can you from any of your minis see any part of defender mini within your weapon range (checked from unit leader) from the mini height? (yes/no)
2A (yes). if yes, then can you clearly see from top to bottom the entire mini? (yes/no)
2B (no). move your mini so you can see the enemy.
3A (yes). The mini doesn't have cover from terrain fire away
3B (no). look at terrain piece and determine cover type. if more than 50% of the minis in multi mini unit is visible per 2A then its no cover. if 50% or less then apply terrain base off what the mini is mostly cover by for terrain type.
note: if you can't see a mini in multi unit mini that mini can't take damage.
for clear peg vehicles only:
same as above set for in 2A will replace with: Can you see the entire mini model?

That is not correct. Light or heavy cover is determined by the piece of terrain before the game starts, not by how much of the mini you can see during play.

yep sorry thinking of the group thing with 50% or more in cover would it apply to the rest duh sorry.
will edit that one.
