Suppression and low profile

If I am suppressed and have low profile do I gain heavy cover?

Yes, the suppression tokens improve the cover by 1 and so, as the unit now has light cover it triggers low profile. That's what makes it so good, as you may have heavy cover while standing out in the open

EDIT: the "Duck and Cover" upgrade can help with that too if you don't have any suppression token and want your unit to have heavy cover for that defense.

A bit of caution with your terminology, because Lemmiwinks answered the question I presume you meant, but is different from what you actually said.

Having any number of suppression tokens on a unit will improve its cover by 1. I presume this is what you were asking about, and there is no terminology for it.

A unit that is suppressed specifically has tokens equal to or greater than its courage value, reducing its number of actions by 1 during its activation.

@Turan is right. I assumed that your question was for when that unit has suppression tokens, but if you actually meant for the unit to be suppressed, Turan's clarification is important as the unit doesn't have to be suppressed to gain the improvement in cover, it just needs to have at least 1 suppression token

Ok thanks guys. Based on the LTP guide I wasn't sure if cover was only gained by terrain and suppression only reduced the damage by 1. Thanks guys that is really strong.

consider suppression as people going down to their belly or knees covering their heads, in order to avoid being hit by shots fired at them. They offer a smaller target and can use the small repairs given by open terrain, or use better an existing repair. therefore the cover 1. For the same reason they gain suppression token when a vehicle moves thorugh them: they dive out of the way and land flat on earth.

When in the attack pool there is a weapon with blast, all the hits ignore cover because they stop hiding and try to flee form the blasting weapon. Therefore they become an easy target for the other weapons.

In tactical games based on 20th century warfare (which Star Wars is mostly inspired by), effects like blast are used to simulate indirect fire/explosive weapons - like grenade, mortars, artillery.

These weapons are effective against troops huddled in cover because the blast and shrapnel from their explosions doesn't need to travel in a straight line from the attacker to the defender (where both are trying to expose as little to each other as possible). A grenade or shell can explode above a trench or a wall that troops are hiding behind, and rain projectiles down and into hiding places (this works around corners too).

Therefore games for these periods which provide cover that is good against direct fire weapons must also have ways for these types of weapons to make them ineffective. I suspect Legion was going for this.
