So i wanted to get a game based on Lovecraf that i could enjoy and have fun alone or with friends..

i watched some videos of this game and played MoM.. and i dont know what to pick..

I'm here to get some help and answers that may help me deciding what to get

It really comes down to what you want. I don't think there's a single 'right' answer.

Mansions is much more story and scenario driven. There's more room for player agency, and a greater ability for players to make choices. It's a 'smaller' setting than EH, and plays out more as an individual, contained story. The game time is easier to customise with particular scenarios (and there's a lot less pack up/down time than EH). Due to the nature of scenarios, it's overall got less replay value than EH (though you'd still need to play a decent amount of MoM to play it out). MoM does feel a little expensive for what you get compared to other games with minis, as the miniatures are unfortunately not very high quality (though it's hard to gauge how much of it is paying for the scenarios in the 'free' app).

EH is more of a 'macro' game, player out on a larger scale. There's generally much less story, with individual encounters not having that much relation to what is happening in the game. It tends to feel a bit more 'adventure-y' than Mansions (Your characters can at times feel genuinely powerful, which is a little unusual in these games). Due to there being a lot more 'moving parts', the difficulty of the game can be a bit more spiky (e.g. a combo of a few bad Mythos cards can basically tank a game) though this is also why it's got a ton of replay value.

There's also Arkham Horror 3rd Edition coming, which looks to be quite a bit different from Eldritch Horror/Arkham Horror. My suggestion would be to watch play through videos and decide from there which game mechanics appeal to you more.

In my experience, they both are. I own both and alternate them because I like both. But they both also needed expansions to make them better.

The base Mansions of Madness doesn't have a huge amount of replay ability. But each expansion has not only added new scenarios but also added to many of the previous scenarios so each one has a few surprises each time you play.

Eldritch Horror at the very least needs Forsaken Lore.

I haven't played Mansions of Madness, so I really can't judge it, but I'll do my best to sell you on Eldritch!

More so than any recent board game that I have played, EH has this great quality of bringing the table together and fostering camaraderie. It's a great feeling when you have all your players huddled together, cheering each other on as they each race across the globe and throw dice to save the world. A real relationship forms as each plan comes together, only to have the rug pulled from under you with each new mythos card. Nevertheless, you will come together through the suffering, and you will endure.

While it's not exactly a deep story, the game does a reasonably good job of selling you on the theme of this globetrotting adventure of the monstrous and the weird. You will slay a werewolf in the Coliseum while your buddy sets out to Antarctica in search of an ancient sword to kill a Hydra corrupting the Bermuda Triangle. The designers do a reasonably good job of tying the mechanics to the theme, with each test being thematically appropriate, and you will always feel the pressure of the ticking clock of Armageddon but can still go about the game rather leisurely, depending on your circumstances. It's also pretty simple to learn, and you can finish a game within a pretty reasonable timeframe. The fastest I have ever done would be around 90 minutes. Once you're finished, you and your friends will let out a huge sigh and immediately begin talking about the events that took place. In that sense, it's a true cooperative experience.

While the expansions definitely add a lot to the game, the base game is still very much a complete experience on it's own, and I don't think you'll find it wanting. You'll easily get your moneys worth out of the base game. The expansions are just that: expansions to the core experience, adding more to what you love. I have never bought any of the big box expansions, opting instead for the smaller ones (I think it makes it far more affordable and doesn't make the game feel quite as bloated).

Ultimately, if you want a fun cooperative experience that sells you on the theme, I would definitely recommend Eldritch.

thanks for ur answear the problem is i will probably play solo since no group i know enjoys HP Lovecraft or even heard of .

Derp, didn't see you were interested in solo. I'd recommend Mansions based solely on that; there's a LOT to keep track of in Eldritch, and running it all yourself is a pain in the ***. IMO the game also works best when you've got at least four investigators, so that's even more to keep track of if you want to play multiple characters. In contrast, the app in Mansions will run a lot of the game for you, and it's fine playing with a smaller number of investigators.

That is the definite downside to Eldritch: you will be busy, and in more ways than one.

I personally have never played MoM but I have wanted to. But I have been playing Eldritch since it’s release in 2013 and I have every expansion. Eldritch is an amazing game but with all the expansions, it’s expensive. If you want to save money, I would say try MoM. They are all great games and who knows, maybe you’ll get the opportunity to place with some other fan who has Eldritch. Hope this helps. Happy gaming.

MoM costs more, because you want the expansions to offer more variation on the scenarios, and on average they're more expensive than the Eldritch Horror sets. And at the current rate it won't take long for there to be as many. There's already two small and two big boxes, and then two figure and tile collections.

The question is.... This or arkham 3rd edition? Looks quite promising. I've stopped collecting eh until ah 3ed hits the stores. In paper. The game play is similar to eldritch,but is more inmersive, like mom 2e but without the replay problems and less expensive.

Have you had a chance to play Arkham 3rd Edition yet? Curious to hear your thoughts! My understanding that the previous iteration was really cumbersome/frustrating, but it had it's fans.
