Well I haven't delved into it yet. I finally got Dunwich but it came with a baby who is sucking up a lot of my free time.

It's so weird to think that you just got Dunwich. I always think of you as an old-timer ;'D

strange indeed. Though, it seems to be out of print now... so people will get the other boards before this one.

Congratulation for the baby. I am expecting another one too in the coming days... gui%C3%B1o.gif

What the... You have the fecundity of Shub Niggurath! IA IA the Spawn of Amikezor!

I mean... Congrats ;')

I realize it's been a while since I've posted anything, but I have now written the stories for all of the scenarios (I'm just editing the last few, a couple days work left, not much). I'm mostly just waiting to see The Curse of the Dark Pharoah before posting the Nyarlathotep scenarios (I think I'm going to have to make an alternate version of the scenarios to play with CotDP revised). After I see the CotDP stuff, I will start posting scenarios 13-16 (although I'll hang back a bit after that until someone, cough cough, Julia, catches up).

Yep... Everything's done. Just waiting for CotDP and Miskatonic before releasing more scenarios, I guess. I might have to tweak around some of the rules for them during the, spoiler alert, four upcoming Nyarlathotep scenarios, particularly if it expands the exhibit item decks.

Julia received confirmation her CotDP revised edition, as long as her MH copy, will arrive at her home on July 15th. Not so much to wait, I hope! In the meantime, I'll start over working on the eons for Scenarios 7-12

Cool :') I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures. Although I'm not so looking forward to trying to figure out how to make the pictures appear on the blog ;'D

I could have done something tonight, but I had too many Heralds to comment in my mail box lengua.gif

(in fact, I loved it. Keep'em coming! Tomorrow I'll do Scenario 7. I promise)

I have no idea who could have been responsible for that ::looks at the ceiling::

Scenario 13 posted. 14 and 15 should follow in the next month. 16 will only be released when someone is ready to play it :')

Julia won't be able to play Arkham during the whole August, I'm afraid (vacation and lots of things still to do for home) but hey, I'll try Scenario 13 tomorrow.

Maybe.

In fact, I'm more thrilled by testing the rift thing. Don't know.

;'D That's just because you don't want to play Monterey Jack.

THE CRAWLING APOCALYPSE

All boards in play

Investigators: Ursula, Darrell, Mandy, Monterey, Minh, Lily

No more doubts on what to play today as soon as I realise that playing with Monterey would have been a tougher challenge than playing with any of Avi's creations. So time for Scenario 13. A nasty one. Short doom track for a tough game. During set-up, I didn't find weapons but some *useful* great items. Like Warding of the Yellow Sign to fasten a safety belt in Devil Reef. Or Illuminated manuscript, a key item especially when given to Minh. Ursula chose to start at the STL, in order to get the fifth clue immediately and then start farming Membership like all others. Darrell started with an ES. Monterey started with Mythos Lore! The greatest skill of the game given to the worst character ever (tied with Vincent, I think) for a brilliant 2 max Sanity result. Passing his PS was an absolute must (and I clearly failed at it)

Mythos zero, Woods. A gate leading to the Underworld, and a Skeleton saying hello! arriving. Everyone went to the STL, but Monterey (he didn't need more membership, but clues, so he went to the Unnamable, only to find a gate sucking him into Another dimension and realeasing a marvellous Star Spawn) and Lily (Unvisited Isle, failed Sneak check to recruit an Ally). Minh got her membership immediately, and the same happened to Mandy. Darrell was forced to the Dreamlands and the resulting encounter made him LiTaS. Ursula was delayed.

Mythos one made Darrell returning from LiTaS. Again some faming at the Lodge. Minh started using the Illuminated manuscript to gather clues.

Mythos two was Evidence destroyed, and the Yhan'thley gate released a Flying polp. Lily was cursed while trying to get her membership. Ursula had one. At that moment, I had Ursula with 6 clues (5 since the beginning + 1 gained via Illuminated manuscript), Mandy with 5 (4 from the beginning + Witch house), Darrell with the ES and finally a membership, Minh generating clues every round thanks to the Illuminated manuscript (a wonderful item, especially since Minh had a +1 Speed to raise her movement points to 6). I decided that Lily could have lived without memberships, and I kept her as monster whacker.

Mandy headed to the Woods. She killed the skeleton and entered the Underworld. Monterey returned from Another dimension, but the Star spawn was still there and Darrell had to enter the R'lyeh gate at the Graveyard, so he had no chance to make Monterey obtain his ES. So I decided Monterey to fight immediately the Star Spawn. He was driven insane, gained two clues and made the Shadowy figure appearing on the board (who cares then? no clues where on the board left). The first R'lyeh encounter made Darrell gain 5 clues (ouch! personal story passed and second Mask in play. The Skinless one entered an Innsmouth location). Immediately after another R'lyeh gate appeared at the Whateley Farm. Ursula entered the R'lyeh gate as well, with the idea of Darrell exiting the OW in Dunwich, if still alive.

He was. first three seals on the board while Nyarly had only 5 doomers. Some more ready to come. Monterey with Mythos lore and 4 clues was the man for closing Yhan'thley but obviously, being Monterey, he couldn't do anything decent. As soon as he arrived at Devil Reef (running out of money) he drew an encounter instructing him to go back to Falcon point. Darrel had an encounter in the second area of R'lyeh triggering the third Mask to enter play (again, in Innsmouth). He returned to Dunwich with an ES and 9 clues. He sealed the R'lyeh gates with clues and went to Hibbs in a couple of turns to gather the 5th clue. Mandy recovered from him the ES, just to toss it to Ursula entering the Abyss. Darrell then entered the Dreamlands, while Minh entered the Leng plateau gate opened at the Gardner's place.

Monterey spent the rest of the game giggling like an idiot on the stony beach of Falcon point, blocked by a series of futile encounters.

Then Mad bomber arrived to town. A very nasty rumor. Passing it would have meant more or less game over (pass condition: every one gains 2 clues, so all Masks will have been in play). Failing it wouldn't be that wise as well. So Mandy tried to invest time and money just to keep the rumor going, while the others would have tried to put the remaining seals.

Doom track at 8. 3 investigators in 3 different OW 1st areas, plus Minh in the 2nd one of Leng. Darrell's encounter allowed him to ride a spear of light and then return to Arkham immediately.

Mythos phase: a gate opened at Wizard's hill. 9 doomers. 3 seals to go. Minh returned from Leng, maximizing her stats. She couldn't seal, anyway, since she had only one clue. Need to wait another round for reading the King in Yellow. Darrell squatted on the gate, waiting. Too risky sealing and then having a gate burst removing the seal. Ursula survived her OW encounter.

Mythos phase: intermission. Sigh of relief. Ursula returned. 3 seals to go, 3 people ready to seal. Minh had only three dice to roll to get the clues. Zero successes. Mandy allowed her to reroll. Two successes, 4 clues gained, 4th Mask in play. Encounter phase. 5 dice for Minh, 1 success. 6 dice for Darrell, two successes. Elder Sign for Ursula.

Six seals on the board, Scenario attended.

Ha! I knew you would do it (no, not really)! I mean, rats! Foiled again!

My favorite line:

"Monterey spent the rest of the game giggling like an idiot on the stony beach of Falcon point, blocked by a series of futile encounters."

I also especially liked reading about how you dealt with The Mad Bomber.

Oh, and what, you did it with 9 doom? 10 if you didn't use the Elder Sign? ;'D Yeah, I thought so. Then again, if you didn't get intermission. Heh ;'D

Which exhibit item did you end up keeping?

::laughter:: can't wait to try the next one! This one was thrilling!

Anyway, a couple of comments about the game. It was completely different from the ones played before. Less troubles with monsters, tons of troubles with handling the situation in a number of turns little enough to survive.

I was very lucky with the Mythos. No double doomers, a Next act card, an Intermission card and no Mythos cards releasing monsters in any street area. I had only a few monsters on the board, and thus their interactions with Masks were easilly controllable. Evidence destroyed was a pain, but it arrived when I had enough clue generating items to allow me to ignore the board and live on my own. Otherwise... yeah, it's a Scenario able to go easily out of control.

No exhibit items to be carry over, at the moment. I don't know what's coming, but I prefer to avoid unpleasant surprise like losing Sanity for having Exhibit with me.

Sadly, this was the last Arkham game before the summer break (99% likelihood). But I'm glad it was a great game!

You were supposed to start off with a random exhibit item draw. Scenario two should have two items. Scenario three three. Scenario four four. Minimum :') Well, unless it's an item you use.

Ah, I enjoyed reading that again. Oh you do get a consolation prize for winning that ;'D you don't have to play Monterey again next scenario. Monterey, the human football (I don't mean that humans use him as a football, because obviously that was a Star Spawn tentacle kicking him all the way to the asylum. GOOOOOOAL).

::Laughter:: okay, I don't want you to get paranoid about this (clearly I've done a good job at spreading fear with my past work). None of the scenarios will penalize you for carrying over items.

Ahhh, well, I'll still post the next scenario so you'll have something to look forward to :')

Really? That's not clear at all to me. I think you worded it as "you may" and not "you must". I'm not that fond of Exhibit items, so I'm not particularly interested in carrying them over

In any case, that's good to know!

Really? Really? REALLY? That's a pity. I'd love to send him immediately to Falcon Point, to jibber-jabber with fishermen and spend there his useless existence... ::laughter::

More seriously.. ::relieved::

Ok then! I'm rather curious to see the 14th one (half-way throught the Nyarly series)!

Well, it seems like the Stars are Right and the Julia has nearly returned from her summer long slumber, so I'll try to post the next scenario within the coming week ;')

Okay... Tonight is the night, i'm playing the first scenario.

Some questions about the components, to be sure.

Board : Arkham + Dunwich + Insmouth, no Kingsport

Monsters : Everything ? Including Kingsport's and Black Goat's ?

Mini expansion : Act Cards ? May i include the Lurker ? Pharaoh revised or not ?

Big Expansion : Miskatonic ? (i don't own it but i can at least use the anti-diluting rules)

Thanks and wish me good luck !

Big Expansion : Miskatonic ? (i don't own it but i can at least use the anti-diluting rules) [You can if you like :'D]

Thanks and wish me good luck !
