I have 3 trooper squads within 1 of Leia. Leia gets hit with 3 shots. Can each squad roll 1 dice for Guardian to remove the hits from her and take the hit?
Thank you.

as many (non crit) hits as there are units around can be assigned to each unit, 1 wound per unit.
The card says that every unit in range 1 gets guardian 1.
Guardian 1 allows you to cancel 1 regular hit (not crit) and save it on the unit with guardian 1 instead.
Note that if there are enough units around to cancel all hits and the opponent didn't score any crit, this would allow you to prevent suppression from being applied to the commander that has that upgrade.
Thought so but we have a rules lawyer among us and I wanted to be sure. Thanks again. He got a few things wrong so I always check if I don't know or can't find the rules entry in the book.

This part is not quite right. As with all attacks, even if all hits are canceled (no matter how the cancellation happened) suppression gets applied. Also, they specifically clarify this under the Guardian entry on page 29:
QuoteA defender that has all of its hit (?) results canceled by
a unit with guardian x is still the defender, and gains a
suppression token as normal.
Worth noting that the units using Guardian do not gain suppression because they are not the defender.
Mh, I misread that. Sorry about it.
