"Bit o' that meat wud be nice."

Kark would listen to the two talking about the jedi and the lifestyle involved. He would glance down at himself rather indignantly at the mention of cutting the fat. He wasn't exactly a large individual thanks to his insectoid nature. 'I'll be honest with you two, you're not really selling this to me, you know? You may want to work on your pitch a bit. Look, I've always thought the jedi were pretty interesting and all, but I really was just looking to study some of the old firce cultures and stuff. I mean, I'd like to tag along, but I'm not really looking to be a monk or anything.
At the question about Kark's knowledge of the jedi order he would bob his head a few times. 'Sure I've read a few bits and pieces on them over the years. They were protected the old republic and stuff like that, but then their leaders got corrupt and tried to take over the senate? That's what set of the whole chain of events with the empire and stuff'. Though it may be inaccurate, what Kark was saying was what most historians had recorded shortly after the fall of the republic. Researchers had been either sponsored or censored by the fledgling empire. That combined with poor public feelings of the jedi at the time, and with the noble chancellor being the only survivor of the jedi's viscous attack, there wasn't much in terms of an alternative view. Even with the fall of the empire, history can be difficult to re-write.
The shuttle on the way to Gorse would be found to be empty of anything further that may be useful. The first order troops must have taken whatever they were using into the village on Dantooine. Still, they seemed to be free of any further attacks from the order, for now at least. As they emerge from hyperspace they are greeted by the tidal locked blue-grey planet that is Gorse.
Reesh would hum slightly as he listens to his new hunting partner. 'Hm, Reesh does not think that's really an answer. Still, Reesh has some ideas. During the time of the old empire, force users were hunted, but not by everyone. They flocked to the rebellion, and later to the republic. Starting at one of the old bases may be a way to find information on a target'.
"Forging yourself, to have a will of hard durasteel, a loving compassionate heart and a clear, razor sharp mind dedicated to helping others not interesting enough my dear fellow!? Well perhaps you don't deserve the responsibility... Perhaps you should work your life away in the shadows, mundane, just going through the motions... Hmm? More to your liking? Then when the first order throws you into a living **** you can rest easy that you did nothing about it... Yes?!? Is this the path you prefer?"
Edited by TheShard'Hey!' Kark would snap indignantly as he takes a couple of steps back away from the Drall. 'There's nothing wrong with my mind thank you very much. And I've helped plenty of people without being some big fancy jedi'. He would gesture to Drez'n and the new arrivals as if trying to highlight his point before carrying on, 'just because I don't really want to become some religious monk that I've only read a bit about doesn't make me the bad guy or something like that. I mean, hardly anyone's seen a jedi for years you know? And then you guys come in going on about being part of their order, sacrifices and all this that and the other, and, well, I'm sorry but you sound kind of nuts!' The young verpine would take a deep breath as he glances hurriedly around the room. It was rare for him to speak out like that, especially to strangers. Without another word he would rush for the door, back out into the snow. It would appear that the recruitment technique of the two jedi had fallen short somewhat. Kark began to wish he'd taken the lift back with the others who'd been working on the weather tower. He would look up as the sky begins to take on the pale blue of the morning, and would rub his arms slightly for warmth.

"The Jedi aren't 'monks'," Korath says, calmly. "Certainly not now. We're scholars , diplomats, healers, investigators, peacekeepers , not monks. The Force grants us power, but, in turn, comes with great responsibility. We tap into it for knowledge and wisdom, and to defend ourselves and others. While all life is connected to the Force in some way, not everyone can feel it, or actively touch it. You may have that gift, and we can teach you how to make full use of that gift."
Korath looks at the young Verpine shrewdly, for a moment. "If you want to learn more about the lore and history of the Jedi," he continues. "Who better to learn that from, but Jedi themselves? How better to gain access to ancient Jedi sites, artifacts and texts than by traveling with Jedi? You seek knowledge. You seek understanding. That's good. Training to become a Jedi can provide you the means to acquire that."
"Philosophers, Monks, warriors, scholars, guardians... Many things we Jedi are... and have to be, for the sake of the galaxy! This is unfortunately not a time of peace where you can live your life and be left alone. You being good in your own individual life has meaning but it doesn't suffice! If only it did life would be much simpler! Bigger forces are moving and threaten to sweep all away. You have a choice to participate in the galaxy or sit on the sideline. You won't be a bad person for choosing it, however do not assume this is a safer path."
He pulls from a knapsack a copper and jade polygon framed in dark wood. It was chipped in places with an edge missing just smaller than the Drall's big hands.
"I will allow you a glimpse, to better make your decision. Take this into your hands if you so choose."

"Easy there," Korath warned Drez'n. "You're scaring the child."
"He's well past the proper age of a Padawan... He must know what's at stake."
23 minutes ago, TheShard said:"He's well past the proper age of a Padawan... He must know what's at stake."
Korath takes Drez'n to the side. "Age has nothing to do with it," Korath whispers. "Look at him. He's scared, and obviously has been sheltered most of his life. Sometimes discretion is needed more than harsh reality. First we need to teach him how to overcome his fear and uncertainty so that he has the 'tools' and discipline to handle it. As of now, all you're doing is scaring him away. The child has a keen interest in history and lore. That is what we should focus on."
Edited by Tramp GraphicsDon't worry, I still have my command code. He'll recognise me.
Akua smiled as she patted a small pouch which contained her proof of rank in the Resistance.
Gorse huh...
Tino muttered.
I guess I can do it... send me the coordinates?

Arvel checked his field uniform one last time, grabbed his blaster pistol and hopped in the dilapidated speeder the rest of his unit left him. He fired up the engine and headed for the spaceport. If the First Order wants to bring the war to Gorse, then a war they would have , he thought to himself.

“Testing his Force potential is fine,” Korath replies. “ The problem with what he’s telling the child is his pushing the issues of the fight against the First Order, and the dangers of being a Jedi. It’s apparent that this kid is much more thoughtful than Avalon, and much less prone to recklessness. It’s also clear that he’s more timid as well. As such, Drez’n is scaring the kid unnecessarily when what he needs is reassuring words and encouragement.”

Jonas laughs. "You are quite the softie, Korath! But who woulda thunk we'd be sitting in bar trying to sell a kid on joining the Jedi Order. My have times changed!"

"We don't have the 'luxury' of inducting babies," Korath replies. "Any apprentices we take on will all be at least teenagers, if not adults, just like way back in ancient times. My master never agreed with taking infants from their families to begin with, but that's besides the point. I didn't recruit Avalon. I found him stowed away in my cargo hold. I agree, he's not the most 'ideal' candidate. This Verpine, Kark, has the proper mentality and maturity, but he lacks confidence. I don't expect him to become a fighter, but, as an academic, a scholar. Perhaps, the two of them can bring the best out of each other as well."
Turning to look at Jonas directly, Korath continues. "This other Jedi you're looking for; do you remember what he looked like?"

Elias, who had been seeking for Lieutenant Venn through the force, said to the others... this Lieutenant Venn is traveling at a high rate of speed, probably by speeder, to our location.

I'd like to use the triumph to get Venn to wonder how I the person calling him got his comlink frequency and told him the extra true details (first name, rate of speed blaster pistol)
He opened his comm and said Lieutenant Arvel Venn we are awaiting your arrival at docking bay 404, judging from your current position and rate of speed you should get here soon, the situation on the ground is different than what I believe you are expecting so please bring an open mind rather than opening fire with that blaster pistol of yours when you get here.

How in the world did they get my comm info? thought Arvel to himself, still trying to keep the junker of a speeder from flipping over. It has to be the civilian Gorse starship control. Right? Has to be, he thought.
Arvel took a deep breath, calmed himself and commed back, " First Order forces, please exit your ship unarmed and prepare to negotiate your surrender."
Then Arvel deactivated his comm and thought to himself , Fortune favors the bold.

Elias said: Lieutenant Venn seems to be in the mood to talk before shooting now. Let's go wait for him. Elias sat cross legged on the floor of the docking bay facing its door, he placed his lightsaber and the blaster pistol he liberated from the scout trooper back on Dantooine on the floor about a meter in front of him and motioned for Chemdat to do the same.
Chemdat flashes Elias a look of frustration and does the same but keeps his slugthrower pistol tucked in his boot.

It hits Xanthe and falls to the ground.
"Aye, like that is it?"
Xanth squats down and collects a wad of snow and frozen dirt and pelts it at the boy.
The burly Drall waits hand outstretched to see if Kark takes the artifact.

Arvel's finally stopped the dilapidated speed around 100 yards from docking bay 404. Thing will probably never start again , thought Arvel. He looks down at the stun setting on his blaster pistol, hesitates for a moment, and leaves it set to kill.
He approaches slowly with his blaster drawn, looking Elias and Chemdat over. In his best officer voice, Arvel says, "Thank you for removing your weapons , agents of the First Order. As a representative of the Republic, I'm here to negotiate your surrender. But before I do, I must ask. Were either of you party to the destruction of Hosnian Prime?"
Arvel tries to hide his feelings, but to Elias, it is pretty obvious --- only one answer to that question will be accepted without violence.

Elias: We are NOT agents of the first order, all of us except my brother Chemdat are fully trained Jedi knights. Knowing your name was enough for me to locate you through the Force and I got your comm info by peering into the future, there was at least one possible future where you gave it to me willingly in the next 24 hours. The Miraluka is Akua Serendine, the Arkanian is Excal'ur Pendragon, I am Elias Windrider. M y brother Chemdat Windrider is still early in his jedi training. We stole the first order shuttle from former imperial inquisitor Matthis Karr in order to escape a fisrst order massacre on Dantooine commanded by Karr. We had nothing to do with the destruction of Hosnian Prime. Miss Akua is currently a member of the Resistance and suggested Gorse as our next destination for us to plan our next course of action. There wasn't anything to eat on the shuttle and we were about to have a meal at a cantina on Dantooine when the first order attacked. Do you mind terribly much if we finish this discussion over dinner at an establishment of your choosing? Preferably someplace with good yet reasonably priced food. I can't speak for the others but you are welcome to hold onto my lightsaber and this blaster pistol I liberated from a scout trooper on Dantooine until after our meal and discussion are over.
