Force Push Off The Table

By Crawfskeezen, in Rules

I was reading through the answered emails thread and a rule that @nashjaee (not sure why it's not linking your name) brought up got me thinking. It was regarding Force Push and movement on/off of buildings and clambering/climbing. It was clarified by Mr. Davy that one can only use Force Push to make a "Standard" speed 1 movement using the movement tool, no climbing/clambering, no jumping off towers and whatnot.

However that got me thinking. If your opponent were to have left their unit leader in a position where you could Force Push them into making a "Standard" speed 1 move using the movement tool that resulted in the unit leader's base being either partially or completely out of the play area thus destroying the unit, could you do that?

Obviously a rather... uncouth thing to do but the question stands.

Edit: I also apologize if this has been brought up already.

Yup this is a legal move and a soul crushing strategy

You can also move a unit off the table if they have been displaced. So be careful about displacing your own units next to the edge of the table.

Hmm, I’m not so sure about that one. Displacement specifically says to place them “on the battlefield”. Furthermore, it is movement in particular that causes a unit to be defeated by its leader going off the board. We have precedent that placement and movement are not equivalent.

I can't find it at the moment but on the tts invader league discord it came up as a question during a game and someone sent in a Dev email and they confirmed it being a legal play.

Oh interesting. Can you post the email?

I ask because there have been folks on the FB group claiming to have an email that says force push cannot be used to move an enemy off the board. When asked to produce said email, the refuse or ignore. I honestly think they’re just having a laugh from sowing discord. So I’m a little wary of email claims that seem to contradict what is written without actually seeing an email.

The only thing I see close to this was Alex D. sending an email (it's in the email clarifications thread) that said that force push cannot be combined with any other kind of movement so you cannot force push someone off or onto elevation.

Which has 0 implication for "off the map"

It is in the "Answered Questions" thread in this subforum. Pic of email is on the 2nd page of the thread

@Zrob314 , @NeonWolf , Yeah I'm familiar with that one since I sent it :) . So, possibly people are drastically misreading it? Agreed it has absolutely nothing say about going off the board.

I would guess that you are correct and they are misinterpreting your email

I asked the original guy. Waiting on a response. He hasn't been online for a couple days. I'll update here though.

I would say yes it can be done...kind of d**k move, but should be legal

If it's unsporting, is using Jedi Mind Trick unsporting when the unit is located near the board edge?

I would say no since there is a chance to avoid panic...but I see where you are coming from )
