So in this example from the LTP book, would the stormtrooper unit with 2 displaced minis gains 1 suppression, which makes sense. My question is does the revel troop unit where 1 mini was also displaced gain 1 suppression as well?

i would think being in the same army this trooper would willingly allow his AT-RT buddy to pass. With the rules as written you essentially give one of your own units a suppression token if you made this AT-RT movement?

Yes, you displace any trooper mini, friendly or enemy, and give all units with displaced minis suppression.
