Attacking with a ST unit + Heavy weapon

By VAYASAN, in Rules

If I attack a rebel trooper unit with my ST unit which has(forget the name) long machinegun thin, DL12 is it?

Do I roll 5 white attack dice(5 troopers) and resolves that attack, then roll the dice for the DL12(?)?

If both attacks hit, does the target get 2 suppression?

No if you attack one target you roll all the dice at the same time, if you were to split the attack so that you attack 2 targets you would roll separately, note that you cannot split the attack if using the same weapon to attack.

So if you choose to attack 2 targets as above you can attack one target with the dlt, and the rest with the e11, or you can attack one target with all e11s or all e11 and a dlt, you couldn't split the e11s to more than one target

Ok something is spinning in my head that I cant seem to get my head round.

ST unit with DLT shoots a Trooper unit.

Rolling 5 White Dice for Stormies and the 2 red for DLT.

Do all hits(including white dice) receive Impact 1, or just the actual red dice?

Would make sense to me if its just the red dice....but got this nagging feeling ive read the white dice receive it too.

Please put me out of my misery ?

The keyword is added to the pool.

So the whole pool of dice has impact 1

So in TOTAL, 1 normal hit of any colour may be changed to Crit?

Correct

This also applies to things like Ion - where not justvthe added ones, but a hit in any dice will produce the token.

Rationalise this as the impact weapon bounced off the armour but dislodged the plate, allowing a regular shot to hit something important.

Or that an attack pool is all your hits flying at it at once, and the dice don't represent weapons anymore just odds of all your shots hitting something with all those shots.

Blast is a good mental example. Concussion grenades have blast and remove cover, but the DLT-19 receives the benefit too if it is in the pool. Think of troopers moving around avoiding grenades rather than taking cover and so becoming more vulnerable aimed fire from the DLT.

Everyone should actually stop trying to rationalize it with any sort of in universe explanation and just play it by the games rules.

Rationalizations like that are one of the ways you get into issues with interpreting & understanding the rules.

Whether it makes sense in that world or not is irrelevant.
