Wood Elf Kithbands, Kinbands and Kindreds
Wood elves are nomadic and organize themselves into Kithbands (including Kindreds and Kinbands). They are of a particular type (e.g. Spellsinger/Kel-Isha) and then have individual names (Kinband Valdaith, Spellsingers). These details are from the Warhammer Battles 2005 “Wood Elves” supplement.

1. Spellsinger Kindreds of Kel-Isha -p.21. Sometimes known as the Handmaidens of Ariel the Everqueen, Priestesses of the Forest. Spellsingers and Spellweavers are generally part of a Kindred Kel-Isha. From the word meaning tears of Isha, sorry, mercy, endurance, and mourning for lost children. They have a unique relationship with the forest and their kin.
2. Warrior Kindreds of Lakoys – p.23. They make up the vast bulk of the kindreds. They generally include the Glade Guard warriors, and sometimes the Glade Riders, Warhawk riders and other warrior castes. From the word meaning might, glory, and fear of death.
1. Glade Guard – Elven warriors p.22.
2. Glade Riders – Horse archers p.23.
3. Wardancers – Servants of the trickster god Loec p.26.
4. Waywatcher – Forest skirmishers p.26.
5. Eternal Guard – Winter guard of the forests. p.23.
3. Wind Rider Kindreds of Sethayla – p.28. Sometimes known as Brethren of Seth or Dawn-Riders. The Wind Rider kindreds hail from areas where their mounts live unrestrained by dense forest canopies. Members of the kindred are often reckless, secure in the knowledge that the swiftness of their mount can carry them unharmed through great danger. Word means flight, and cry in the far mountains.
4. Younger Kindreds Haroith- p.29. A kindred that tends to attract young Elves. Typified as being impatient and impulsive. Many elves leave this kindred as they age, though wilder elves will remain. They are mistrusted kindred by other wood elves. Most regard them as not understanding balance and they are therefore dangerous. Often the first to react violently. From the word youth, boundless energy and jealousy.
5. Glade Rider Kindreds of Sehenlu- p.30 “Horse-masters, Saddle-born, and the Ridderkin. Name means swiftness and accuracy.
6. Vengeance Kindreds of Talu- p.31. A very small kindred devoted to revenge for acts of particular harm. This is an unusual indeed in that those who join it only do so for fulfillment of a particular vendetta, and they then return to their former Kindred. To stay too long within the kindred of Talu is particularly dangerous (one cannot leave the kindred without fulfilling the reason they entered it), and elves only become one of this kindred very rarely. Those belonging to this kin are known by names such as Riftblades and Mournsingers. Named for hatred or vengeance.
7. Wardancer Kindreds of Caidath-p.66. Known as Shadowdancers of Loec, Feast Masters, Bladesingers, and Deathdancers. They are dedicated to the trickster god Loec, god of laughter, dance and music. From the word meaning grace, power, music of the stars. They usually dual wield swords and forego the bow. They don't tend to wear armor.
8. Eternal Kindreds of Selathoi-p.66. They fro an undying and unyielding defense against all the sacred places of the forests during the winter months. Members of this kindred have proved time and again that their skills and courage are worthy. From the word meaning unyielding defiance.
9. The Alter Kindreds of Laith Kourn- p.67. Known often as Alters, Shifters, or Wild kin, these elves can adopt aspects of the creatures who dwell in the forest. They are much more isolationist than other kindreds. From the elven word meaning storm, wrath, rain, eternal sleep and the elven god name Kurnos.
10. Scout Kindreds of Arahain-p.67. Sometimes known as Sentinels, Wayfarers and Hawkeyes. From the word meaning shadows, night, stealth, secrets, and perfidiousness.
11. Wild Rider Kindreds of Auryaur-p.67. Sometimes known as the Spears of Kurnous, the Brethren of Orion and Pyrewardens. From the word meaning blood and birth. They ride elven steeds.
12. Waywatcher Kindreds of Nymraif-p.67. Also known as Wood Haunters, Pathwatchers, Shadow Striders and Mist Walkers. From the word meaning skill in arms, spirituality, or the lost way. They tend to eschew armor and use the bow primarily.
13. Glamourweave Kindreds of Yenayla – p.67. A group smaller than the Spellsinger kindreds that is dedicated to maintaining the correct balance within the forest. Sometimes known as Shapers, Tree-singers, Skein-weavers, Shadow-Walkers, Changelings, Wood-Seers, Grove-kin and Wood shapers, are very closely linked to the forest and often act as emissaries and ambassadors between the Wood Elves and the older spirits of the Forests. From the word meaning balance, harmony and chaos. They tend to ride elven steeds.
