Army lists and Command cards

By Crose87420, in Rules

I had a couple of questions;

Is your army list available to your opponent to peruse?

Can your opponent ask to see your played Command cards if they've forgotten what you played?

Officially, that sort of stuff would be covered by the tournament rules, which we don't have yet. Unofficially, yes to both, until then.

Usually your opponent gets to see your army list before any tactical decision have to be made. This information and other information related to the state of the game is typically open to all players for the entire game.

For example it is ok for an opponent to ask to be reminded what upgrades are on a particular unit or what defense die it uses. Also things like are they suppressed or how many wounds have they taken. (I believe all this should be known by the tokens on the table but I had an opponent who wanted to keep damage on the cards and I really didn't care.) You might need to clarify which tokens belong to which unit.

I know in X-WING and I think in Armada the contents of your discard piles are also open information. I expect the same in Legion.

In Armada your only discards are damage cards and the odd upgrade - and they’re not open information - although in the point of upgrades, due to their position, they can be inferred through rarity.

They actually are open information in Armada.

Open information is any information about the game, game
state, or ships that is available to all players. This includes
faceup damage cards , any relevant tokens, the chosen
objective, discarded upgrade cards , and any other information
continuously available to all players.

Not sure if faceup damage cards also includes discarded damage cards. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to flip them faceup. But this text is from the FAQ, so we'll need to see what they say about Legion when the Tournament Regulations and/or updated RRG are released. Wherever it happens to be that they define "Open, Derived, and Hidden Information".

If I were to bet, I'd bet on these being open info. Also, your unit cards and upgrades are supposed to be put on the table during setup, which would imply that they're open info for your opponent to peruse at their leisure.

Discarded damage cards is what I was mostly referring to - they are certainly hidden, as they influence odds of critical hits/effects... and you cannot peruse them. but I will stand corrected on the facedown upgrade cards! ?

I just looked at both the X-Wing and Armada FAQs and the both say the same thing almost verbatim about open, derived and hidden information. I recall being on the losing end of a debate on the X- Wing forum years ago about weather someone could look through your discard pile. I was of the opinion they could not.

I am 100% certain I have an email clarification at home (on my pc) stating so for Armada at least.

i jyst can’t access that email from here.

Ok, I'll believe you. It could be different with X-WING and Armada or my memory is faulty. Personally I do think the idea of someone picking up your discarded damage cards and looking through them is stupid and at best a delay of game.

Anyway it's not terribly relevant to this discussion except in the fact that the do need to clarify if discarded command cards are open information.
