Maximum Firepower - Can veers attack twice?

By player639442, in Rules

Having an interesting discussion with friends... Maximum Firepower for Veers states “At the end of his activation he may perform an attack”. If he has already performed his normal attack, can he attack again? On Son of Skywalker it specifically calls out Luke is allowed “another attack”, which is where the confusion starts. The rules guide states you can not perform more than one attack per activation, and Maximum Firepower states “end of activation” which is still part of his regular activation.

I know the press release for Veers says the following, but the I have been told not to use the press release for rules: “Maximum Firepower allows General Veers to carry out a normal activation, then launch an attack rolling four red dice. When combined with an aim action or another attack, this attack has the potential to have a devastating impact on the enemy army.”

Thoughts?

He can attack twice. The part that really trips people up is attack vs attack action .

You can perform more than 1 attack, but not more than 1 attack action. So look closely at the wording when something grants you an attack.

For example, Luke’s Charge ability grants an attack action and is therefore subject to the limitation. Maximum Firepower and Son of Skywalker grant an attack, and are therefore not subject to limitation.

Thanks for the response. I came to the same conclusion this morning when reading this is the rules document:

During a unit’s activation, it is possible for it to perform multiple attacks through the use of command cards or other abilities. If a game effect provides a unit with an attack during its activation, and that attack is not an action or free action, performing that attack does not count toward a unit’s limit of a single attack action per activation. It is not an action and therefore does not count against that unit’s two actions per activation and does not trigger abilities that occur after actions are performed.
