Battle Meditation

By ovinomanc3r, in Rules

Ok, here I go.

I was told in my group that this card was giving headache and it seems it is true.

The questions was about if it allowed to bypass other restrictions cause u always understood it as only bypassing the range restriction.

Now I read the mail answer (thanks for sharing btw) and I noticed it only talk about the unit type restriction and without further explanation.

The problem, to me persist in the following way:

1. Battle Meditation bypass the unit restriction and only the unit restriction and that's all. Why? Because they say it and that's fine.

Or

2. Battle Meditation bypass all the restrictions and that's all. Why? Because the card say you can and that's what it does. You can activate whatever friendly unit on the battlefield no matter other restrictions you have.

I find that if that was a question of reading RAW properly rather than explaining the actual RAI of the card I could bypass the order token restriction giving two to the same unit. Not being able to activate one of the unit and breaking the game because the activation phase never ends.

So is Battle Meditation poorly written and all the clarification says is that it is supposed to bypass the unit restriction along with the range one? Or is Battle Meditation perfectly written and all the clarification says is that it is supposed to bypass all restrictions while assigning orders?

It was stated in another e-mail by Alex (to be found on FB legion group) that BM does not override the "one token per unit" part of the rules and that it would be clarified in FAQ. Obviously this is due to poor wording of Battle Meditation, but it seems that RAI was to overcome unit type and range restrictions only.

That said, if someone would enforce RAW by placing a second token on a unit that already has one, then yes, he would actually break the game as the activation phase couldn't end. I believe it would be deemed unsporting conduit by most TO's and would result in such player being removed from an event :P

Thanks. It was already shared in my group. I was about coming here to end the thread.

Also, I believe battle meditation doesn't allow you to give a unit orders if the unit is within range of a comms jammer (even though it would be through the force) because the "cannot" outweighs the "can"
