Activation clarification?

By Wicked Necromancer, in Rules

So you play a command card choosing to activate units in range of the commander, then randomize the remaining order tokens. Then the player take turns activating until each unit is activated. So do the random units need to be within range of the commander? And if they are not in range of the commander do they just not move? Or is the range, from the commander only relevant to the command card?

Range of the commander is only needed for ‘issuing orders’, so yes the units you deal command tokens to from the command card. Activating is a separate phase and doesn’t need to be in range.

Also note: during the Command Phase, you do not activate units. You issue them a face up order tokens (range to commander matters here). All units get a turn to activate during the Activation Phase (range to commander no longer matters for purposes of activation, may matter for other reasons). Refer to page 2 of the RRG for further clarification. Hope that helps.

Thanks folks I don’t know why I could not understand that distance from the commander during activation. Ugh so much clearer now. I guess my only playing partner is my 8 yr old so hahaha. Any way thanks!
