Suppression, recover.

Hey, me and a gaming buddy are having a descussion about removing suppression and recover actions. Basically we can’t decide wether or not after a recover action we get back the second action OR is it just one action because we were suppressed to start with??

Just a little part to think about about.

If you could get back the second action by doing a recovery, wouldn't you do it always a recovery as first action and have no drawback?

If a supressed unit has more supression tokens than having courage value they lose one action. Doing the recover does not give back the lost action.

If you check under Courage on page 21:

After the “Rally” step of a trooper unit’s activation, if that unit has a number of suppression tokens assigned to it that is equal to or greater than that trooper’s courage value, that unit is suppressed . A suppressed unit performs one fewer action during its activation.

And under activating units on page 12:

3. Perform Actions: A unit that is not suppressed can perform up to two actions and any number of free actions. A unit that is suppressed or that has lost an action due to being damaged can perform only one action and any number of free actions.

There is this keyword word: suppressed . Sadly the entry under suppression on page 42-43 is missing this "keyword". And it is written there:

»» During the “Perform Actions” step of a trooper unit’s activation, if it has a number of suppression tokens assigned to it that is equal to or greater than its courage value, a player can perform only one action instead of two (plus any number of free actions).

In the end it is two vs. one (Courage and Perform action vs. suppression). And if you add a little common sense, i would say that it would be a bit to easy to just remove the tokens and regain the action.
