Man this feels like a dumb question but my buddy and I could not figure it out last night in our first learning scenario. When Luke jumps into a unit of stormtroopers to melee, does his attack only hurt the mini in contact? Or the whole unit? Thanks.
Luke/lightsaber melee
Check out the Melee rules on pg 32 of the RRG.

Yeah we read that over a couple of times and just must have missed something. It talks about unit cohesion, targeting, base contact, but I just can’t wrap my head around what that all means for Luke.
Let's take the simple version: Luke vs. a whole squad.
Luke makes contact with a mini. The rest of the squad is moved so that as many as possible make contact with Luke (they all have melee weapons).
If Luke does 4 hits to the stormtroopers, 4 guys are taken from the board.
Ok. I get what the rules are saying. Luke acts as a unit to force the enemy unit into contact with himself. I knew there was something simple I was missing. Thanks
What if Luke charges a speeder bike and rolls 6 Crits... does just the one bike splash or two?
Two. 2 Speeder bikes are one Unit, so first 3 wounds go to non-leader miniature, the others to the leader.

Yeah he's pretty much a vaccuum to all the other troopers in the unit. Either that or they're all like "DOGPILE ON LUKE" when he gets in base contact with one of them.

I'm honestly just visualising every scene in every Star Wars animated series when the Jedi show up, the bad guys are all "Get them!" and just run charging and firing at the super-powered space-wizards with blaster reflecting laser swords.
