If my opponent rolls all crits against Vader, can I spend my dodge token to cancel zero hits but still turn on deflect?
Deflect vs. All Crits
Based on X-Wing, yes you could...
Because you can spend a Focus token to convert Zero <focus> into Zero <hits> and still consider the Focus token spent. So it would work for Deflect...
But that assumes they'll use the same logic in Legion that they did in X-Wing. It's the same lead dev so that seems a reasonable assumption.

RRGpg26 last line under Dodge
"A unit may spend a dodge token even if there are no hits to cancel."
On a related note, if I deflect back crits, are they still crits for armour purposes...

Makes sense to me as you’re reflecting the hit/crit back.

It doesn’t matter Armour or not. Deflect does not send a hit back to the attacker, it deals a wound for each deflected hit, no armour, no defence, just damage.

Ahh, clears that up. Thanks.
If I only receive 1 hit and use the dodge token to cause deflect can I still deflect the hit or does the dodge token cancel the hit first therefore nothing to deflect
Using a Dodge token with deflect also gives Vader/Luke a defensive surge. So it's not a bad thing to give them 66% chance to ignore the hit instead of just a 50%.

The dodge token cancels it, so no dice are rolled. It could be worth taking the risk with that die roll (instead of spending the dodge) if you expect heavier shots to come.
Thanks. The deflect costs the dodge token to operate so it’s really not possible
