Battle cards deck

By toffolone, in Rules

At the beginning of the game, battle cards must be shuffled then you deploy 3 of each category on the table and blue player start choosing which one to eliminate.

But if I'm not mistaken in the box with vaporators etc, there will be a new card for each category .

So those should be added to the deck...But not everybody will buy that expansions. Therefore we will have a situation where my deck has 4, 4 and 4 cards, your deck has 5, 5 and 5 cards. Maybe even worse if new cards come out in future expansions.

So which battle deck should be used? Because once we will have many different cards, it would be a tactical decision to include some in the deck or not...I mean I could deicde to bring with me only 3 cards for battlefield conditions or deployment type., but 5 cards for objectives...

But even if I bring all 5 cards for each deck, and my opponent only has 4 of each. Who decides which deck to use at the beginning of the game?

Personally I would just opt for the deck with the most variety, but if in doubt roll for it! (This is actually in the RRG under Resolving Disputes p. 4) :P

Of course variety shiould be preferred. But Maybe I don't want to play with minefield. So I simply don't put it in my deck so there is no chance to draw it.

This is pure speculation, but I know in Imperial Assault they know which 3 maps they could possibly be playing when going to a tournament. They know if won’t be any map that ever existed. Could be something similar in Legion OP. The tournament has a specific set of battle cards that need to be used, and these would change season to season ... again, just a guess.

Again if there was any dispute then just roll off for it. I've combined both the cards from my core sets so on occasion we have had two of the options being the same in the end, which makes for an interesting twist :P

I think this is a cross that bridge when we get there situation. I certain they will address it in the rules one the new battle cards come out.

Hmmm...this is interesting. Since there is no rules for ”building” a battledeck it seems to assume everyone will have the same deck.

It could work that each player supplies a battle deck of 9 cards (3+3+3) choosen from whatever cards that player owns, and which deck used is tied to the initiative bid. A bit like Armada almost.

We'll probably get rules either around or at when the new cards actually come out.

Runewars has a similar system to Legion in setting up a battle, but it is only Objective and Deployment for that game.

In the OP rules for Runewars, they list which 3 Objective and which 3 Deployments are legal for the current Season of Organized Play. The TO for the event is supposed to randomly select an Objective and Deployment for each round of a tournament, then all participants play that game.

I would assume it will be similar for Legion once they release the OP rules.

Everyone has to buy any expansion that includes battle cards. All decks must include all cards released to date. Pretty simple.

The outrage Is palpable already...

“How DARE you dictate anything but a single core set purchase...”

”A tax on being able to play!”

Etc.

i mean I wish I was joking, but that’s what happened with the x wing damage deck debacle .

Armada handled it by putting the onus on the second player... they could include the new objectives if they wanted (as you only play second player objectives) - but then they have to provide all obstacles, including the new ones that were in the new objectives.

So if you didn’t have the new obstacles or objectives, it was never your responsibility to bring provide or purchase them.

Yeah, and the solution to the new damage deck was real simple too. FFG gave us a choice about which to play. The outrage subsided. I’m sure they will sort us out here as well.

Could be that the blue player supplies the battle deck.
