Hey,
This came up last game of mine.
What happens to the command cards of lets say luke skywalker when i kill him?
Can the opponent still use the command cards such as my ally is with the force?
Thanks!
Command cards dead commander
Since the card has his name on it, if he's not there, he cannot use it.

You can continue to use command cards, as long as you have a "nominated commander" on the field but not the ones that belonged to the now deceased commander. If your opponent plays a card that belonged to a defeated commander then they must use Standing Orders instead.
Thanks!
Command Cards RRG pg.19-20
Relevant paragraphs from page 20
Quote• If a player’s commander is defeated, any commander specific
command cards corresponding to that commander
cannot be played during the Command Phase.• If a player reveals an illegal command card during the
Command Phase, they replace that card with the “Standing
Orders” command card, if able.
What happens in the following scenario?
Start of Turn 3: Rebel plays SOS, Imperials play Implacable - Rebels win priority - Luke takes out Vader.
Current implacable card is changed to standing orders? The remaining unplayed New Ways to Motivate Them and MOE are removed from the Imp players deck and they do not have any command cards for turn 5 & 6 and are required to cede priority and draw randomly from the unit stack for those rounds? Thanks for clarifying.

I believe the card remains there until end of turn as it said in the rule quote above you can’t play those cards during command phase as for turn five and six you would just play standing orders which is always returned to your hand.

Implacable is not replaced by Standing Orders. Any effect it has which is not dependent on Vader being on the table is still in effect. Standing Orders can be used for the last two rounds of the game since it returns to your hand after use. No cards are removed from your command deck, you just can't use them.

And this part is important bc as more generic command cards become available, players with KIA commanders will still want to keep a certain mystery as what they’re holding. If you just dump all your remaining Luke cards on the table your opponent will know all you’ve got left is SO and will be free to use that knowledge accordingly. Maybe it’s not a huge advantage, but in a close game it could make a big difference.
