''Deflect'' ability vs only one dice

By Swordwalls, in Rules

Hello all,

Question regarding ''Deflect'' ability:

Let's say I attack Luke with one trooper left in the whole unit.

I roll a hit on my only dice.

Can Luke use its dodge token to activate ''Deflect'' ? Does it works even when there is only one dice and it is cancelled by the dodge token ?

My thinking is that, rulewise, he cannot do it since there would be no defense dice for Luke to roll. Am I mistaken ?

Thanks to help me clarify this.

Luke would dodge the one hit and then roll no defense dice as there are no uncancelled hits to defend against. Deflect doesn't come into play.

Thanks. I was pretty sure I was right.

Have you showed him the attack timing chart?
