Activating units

By RaRarlo, in Rules

Each turn, how many units activate? Do you only activate the number of units corresponding with your command card played, or do ALL units activate regardless of command card? For example, if I choose Push for 2 units, do I only activate 2 units, leaving the other units untouched? If my opponent selected 3 units to activate, would they go twice in a row If I began the turn?

Thanks!

You activate all of your units each turn, but only the designated units as per the chosen command card can be activated at will. So this means that if your command card lets you activate two unit, then you'll choose two units over which you have full controll regarding when to activate them. The rest of your units are subject to randomized activation (you shuffle your remaining command tokens face down or in a bag and then pick one).

Thanks!

Also, just because you assumed order tokens to units doesn’t mean those have to be activated first. Say, in the learn to play game you assign your commander and support an order token. You can choose either one of those two or draw from the random token pool for which unit is activated. This gives you some added strategy as you know those two random order tokens will be corps units.

related question: you dont in any way distinguish the tokens on a per unit basis right? As in, if i have 5 corps units and i randomly pull a corps token, i can activate any one of my corps correct?

Yea, so long as you are activating a corp that does not have an order. Random draws can go to any matching unit.

As I understand it yes. You can activate any of your corps units without a command . To have it any other way you would have to mark your tokens and units to match.

Right i knew i couldnt for a unit that has orders, i just found it odd in a game of randomly activated units the individual tokens werent defined.
Totally fine with it but it was a bit odd not seeing it directly stated in the rules (theyre written like theyre the ONLY unit corresponding to that token)

Part of the strategy of making a homogenous-battle-role army...you always get to activate the unit type you need/want.

Sorry, just 2 questions. Sorry for my poor language but I come from Italy...

1) When I randomly activate a unit (which has not any command according to the rules) do I have to respect the range of 1-3 from the commander? Do the units which I randomly activate have to respect this range to be activated?

2) Does "range 1-3 from the commander" mean "the unit chief must be in range" or the "whole unit must" or "the miniature in that unit which is closest to the commander must"?

Thanks...

Alessandro40: No need to respect the 1-3 range for the ones you draw randomly.

The 1-3 range is only an indication for the range at which you can give units the order markers after drawing the initiative card.

1. No. Command Range is only for issuing orders. Drawing a command token and avtivating a unit is not related to issuing orders.

2. As long as a single miniature in the unit is at range 1-3, the entire unit is considered to be in command range.
