Here's my first Custom Investigator. I haven't tested him out yet but I do think he's very unique. Please comment.

PS. I know the Photo is funny but I couldn't find a better one. Please tell me if you can see the images as well.

I almost never comment in this thread (since the only custom materials I'll use are heralds and ancient ones), but I will say your photos aren't visible. You should upload them as jpegs on some free photos website and link to them.

Thanks, Avi_Dreamer. I will look online and repost with links.

Trying to post my first investigator as well, using a imageshack link. No luck after about 15 mins of trying.

Basic Premise:

Myron Portis, conductor of the Arkham Steam #203 engine on the Dunwich Line. Next stop, the abyss....

Back story is the #203 is a ghost engine that occasionally ventures into other worlds, and last time Myron saw the engine brought something back with it from the abyss.

If someone could be so kind as to explain how to actually get a pic to show in these forums it would be appreciated. Looks like some other folks are having problems there as well.

Ok, here's my final one, for now. My personal tribute to the Suikoden RPG series.

It should be a wand, not a staff, but I've decided to use a card I created beforehand.

OK, seems to be a browser thing. The site doesn't work if you try to post with Chrome. IE does work though. You then have to resize to 480x675.

Here's Myron Portis. He's part of a blender expansion, one designed to get the different map boards to work together. One of his special abilities facilitates travel between maps. The other one is more powerful, and allows him to close gates more quickly.

Myron's Personal Story:

And here's my second character, in the transportation theme. Barnstormer Jackie Kirkpatrick, searching for her lost niece somewhere near Arkham. Jackie starts with a plane, a Curtis JN-4 Biplane, which were often lovingly referred to as 'Ole Jenny' by their pilots.

The mechanic for the plane is this - it can only land on streets, and can't be taken of the street area. If Jackie leaves the street, she has to leave the plane behind. Only people with the pilot attribute can use it. It costs 2 MPs to travel to The Sky, which is now treated as a street location. So Jackie can fight critters there, or elude them as necessary. For another 2 MP it can land on any street area of any map. However, it is then inverted, and costs $3 to refresh.

And Jackie's Personal Story.

This is a new twist I think, a variable Task depending on the number of expansions on the board. So it can be done with any combo of expansion, the difficulty and reward changes with the number of expansions in use.

Also I tried to add a new wrinkle to the reward. In this case, it returns Allies to the Ally Deck even after the Terror level has increased.

demiurgex or anyone else,

Since you figured it out could you send me an email with step by step instructions. I really would like everyones views on my first character before I make any more. My email is [email protected]

PS demiurgex pretty cool idea of the pilot but the plane should be 2 handed.

Hi Innsmouth13.

I'll just post what I figured out here in case anyone else is looking, OK?

It looks like the html they use for posting images is browser specific. I normally use Google Chrome, but had to use Internet Explorer for the function to work.

I used Strange Eons to create the cards and export them. I chose Specify Custom Export, JPG (though that probably doesn't matter, there's PNG on this site as well), Image Quality=Virtually Lossless, and checked Create Progessive Scan Image. That will export a .ZIP file, that you will then need to extract to a folder.

I also did not Combine Front and Back into Single Image. You shouldn't do that for the Main Card, but I'd recommend doing it for the Items and Personal Story Cards as it saves you a link later.

At that point you need to edit the Main Investigator cards (stats and The Story so Far). The base size that Eons exports is too large for this forum. I used Microsoft Picture Manager, went to Image - Resize, and changed the image size to 480x675.

You'll need a picture web hosting site. I used Image Shack, but lots of folks appear to be using Photobucket.

Upload your photos there (you'll need to create an account if you don't have one). Then copy the Direct image link. You'll need to use the http:// link, not one with html tags or other coding, because this forum does that for you.

Then Reply to the thread, and use the Inset/Edit Image button on the tool bar (it looks a bit like a postcard). I'd recommend Previewing then, to make sure everything worked. If necessary however the forum does have an Edit post function to allow you to make changes, though it looks like that goes away after a while.

So, overall, it's a big pain in the butt. :D

Hope that helps!

As far as Ole Jenny goes, I originally was going to make her Two Handed, but then reconsidered.

Basically the way aerial combat started back in WWI is that pilots would go up and where generally used just as scouts. Then the pilots realized they could hand grenades on the troops below (which later led to bombs).

When the first pilots fought each other in the air, it was with pistols! So you can fly with one hand on the stick and use your feet to steer with the rudders. So I figured if Jackie had a pistol, she'd be able to shoot at the Byakhee or Nightgaunts in the area with her.

Hmmm.... lots of special rules you need to consider for flying interactions. What happens if Jackie loses a combat check with a Nightgaunt which would normally take her through the nearest gate?

I'd say discard Ole Jenny - she crashes. I can easily see the Nightgaunt ripping Jackie from the plane and carrying her to the gate, while the plane flies off until it crashes.

Corrected spelling of dying already. If any other typos please inform me.

Thanks for the tips demiurgex. I also think you got a great idea with the pilot character so keep improving her.

one thing about steve morgan... Like Lily Chen, can Morgan use his focus to move his sanity/stamina sliders?

can someone help me make a character i dont have strange eons or rather my computer wont work it. anyhoo

my character is a horror author with the following abilites

Strange visions: When he ends his movement in a street area he has a Yuggoth encounter as if he was in Yuggoth. If he would be delayed because of this encounter that is ignored.

Pulled to the darkness: Whenever he successfully evades a monster he gains one clue token.

He would have a high lore and sneak and weak fight. I always like the strange writers in Lovecrafts works and i dont know why AH has almost none.

NO!!! He's Max Sanity/Stamina changes after three doom tokens have been added to his sheet due to his ability "Slow Bodily Decay." His physical body is weakening but his mind grows stronger due to "darker knowlegde."

okay, so he is forced to move his san/stam slider after 3 doom tokens...

Yeah I didn't check for mistakes before I posted him. Your suppose to add one doom token, from the pool, every upkeep phase after the first one. One Steve has three on his sheet, remove them and and move his sanity/stamina slide one space to the right. I think his personal story cards might help explain why I did it this way. So what do you think of him, besides the fact I did check for errors?

i think he's pretty strong. happy.gif Even when Steve is decayed to his limit, he has more brains than Harvey Walters! plus, it is nice he gets an Ally in the beginning. and he starts with a healing stone, which is really cool. he is totally sick!!!

Thanks for the input. He was slightly inspired by the story "Cool Air" by HPL.

Edit: Obviously the name in the pass/fail should be Jack, not Jason.

jasonpierce1.jpg

jasonpierce.jpg jasonpiercefrontface.jpg jasonpiercebackface.jpg

Edit: Again, made a mistake. The green card should be named "Confidence" and the red one "Debts".

Jason's luck ability is very overpowered. At the very least you should lower his luck by one (being able to have six dice on a check every turn even with out a lantern or a warning mirror is, well, too powerful, especially since it could also be joined with fight or horror checks). If you wanted a balanced character instead of a strong character, lower it by two. Also, consider lowering the focus by one. That forces players to decide what they're going to do if they expect multiple checks in a turn (i.e. multiple combats, or combat before entering an Other World) and adds to the level of strategy required to play the character, instead of just allowing players to tank with him.

For Jack's fail card, it says "must discards" it should say "discard."

Are you sure that using luck (even 6) ONCE per turn, ONCE per check, is so overpowered?

Yes. Because you normally only have one skill check per turn (unless you're fighting a monster on a gate). Which means you're basically giving a character 6 on all his stats (except for speed for the purposes of movement— and this is potentially higher if one of his two skills is a +1 luck skill). It wouldn't be quite as bad as Patrice or Mandy, but it'd still be highly overpowered. Having someone with solid fives for skills would be more than powerful enough (he'd have some of the best stats in the game).
