umm i think that is way over the line (and creepy!) kroen. any more posts like that and he should be banned
believe me when I say that a couple of "bad" words are much less painful than having all of your investigators ignored.
i post stuff all day that gets ignored but i know this is a forum with a bunch of strangers!! who cares if they like u?? take a step back!! wow get some sun and come back and have some fun! calm down. you ranting and raving is wierd man!!
Don't poke the baby. He whines too loud. Just ignore him and he'll go away.
for real this is the custom investigators thread any whining you should make a whining thread. if it has nothing to do with custom content i am ignoring it.

First of all, it doesn't say if he can draw randomly, second of all, if I were playing a game with this guy, I'd have everyone go shopping. Then I'd start bumping up the terror level. I won't quite say he's broken... But I think he's seriously overpowered— especially if it's select and not draw at random. Also, he'll be able to succeed at Join The WInning Team too easily. Getting this guy 4 or five allies is just too easy (having put a bit more thought into it, you'd actually want to have him draw allies the first two turns because the odds of the terror rising at that point are miniscule, and even if it does, it's only the common item shop.
Re-done the Ally gaining text and lowered fight/will stats, and added that he uses the Ally as human shield to protect himself.
Still overpowered or just strong like Daisy and Wendy?

I just used google image search and found it pretty quick. Go ahead and make whatever you want!
And kroen, no one needs to repay you because no one owes you anything. As many people have tried to tell you, your posts are often very harsh and defensive. Your last two posts here are just more examples proving the point. There's little incentive to critique your creations because you rarely listen anyway, and you're certainly not nice about it. Yes there would be a lot less posts without you but it's nothing anyone would worry about. This forum did fine before you and will continue fine once you're gone. And frankly it would be nice not to have your brand of attention-seeking yet negative personality splattered on every forum.
It's not all about you. No one "owes" you respect or anything else. You have to earn that.
Agreed.
Ugh. Double post.

It's actually fairly interesting now... It's still very powerful, but considerably less exploitable.
May I suggest you modify the return ally condition to "discard an ally" (since you still have to pay to regain allies—with terror rises, this ability won't be too heavily abusable).
A couple aesthetic critiques as well: there is already an investigator (from the base game) named Vincent (Vincent Lee, the doctor), and you're using a cgi picture (which doesn't match the rest of the game art very well). Google images and deviantart are both good places to look for pictures.

He's thematic, but he's also very weak. Even with a whiskey he'd be shredded because his sanity is so low and his will would only be a max of four. I'm not quite sure why he has a focus of three though (I'm also not quite sure why you have a highly focused alchoholic)... If you gave him one less focus and one more will... :')
In HP's books the drunk Abner was more a pansy but Abner has 6 fight. Way too much. 4-5 maybe but 6 is captain badass territory. Other than that I have no problems with him.
Here is a character more for fun than theme. The Goblin King Jareth from the Labyrinth. I love that movie.

@Avi Well the way I view focus is different that yours. Based from the scientist Focus 1 vs. the handyman Focus infinity... the scientist is so focused she has a 1 while the handyman multitask has an infinite.
Plus the way I feel Will works is your persuasive abilities... Bob's sales 6 Will again vs. scientist's Will of 3.
Never met a charming drunk before but one's who are very confident in their selves hence the 6 fights.
Again not making this guy with a set role... the role is up the player and luck of the game.
@Lord I didn't know that about Abner. I just looked up HP Lovecraft drunk character.
I guess I could give him -2 fight and +1 to Lore/ Luck. Perhaps he drinks so much because he knows a little to much about the Mythos. Hence the 5 Lore.
The Goblin King looks good.
Labyrinth is one of three movies I own. Investigators for Hoggle and the others would be awesome. I think I might make those, if you don't beat me to it.
Please do make the others, it would be cool. I made Jareth because I had a pic of him I was originally going to use for a screensaver (and I was horribly bored lol). And Bowie was awesome in that movie: he even made the baby sounds for "Dance, Magic Dance".
Nice one, Lord of Squirrels! Now if I only had a print-quality version...
I would definitely not be opposed to seeing a whole series of Labyrinth Investigators either. What an awesome movie.
I don't know if anyone's interested, but here's a revised version of my Engineer.
I playtested the original version in a few games and it was huge fun when it did something, but often wasn't distinctive enough, so I basically added more stuff. This version should work a lot better (although of course I may have gone too far). If anyone else wants to playtest it I'd be fascinated to hear what happens. Standing offer: I'll playtest someone else's character if they'll playtest this.

why does no one ever make a horror author or poet?

I did see town drunk.
Have you looked at this whole thread, Pitt? There are several Horror Authors within it. It's well travelled territory, but everybody comes up with a different special ability, so it's interesting to watch.
I really like the engineer. He's so good for clever players. It would make sense if he had a higher lore. Perhaps lower his speed to reduce or rely on Map doubling? I want to test him. I'm currently going through Arkham withdrawal. I lost access to the game, and have to wait until I have 50 dollars or a gift.
Jareth is really good too. So many abilities! Perhaps, if you're looking for something realistic (well, as realistic as an Arkham character could be), he should have fewer abilities? He could have one really big ability, though. Something about altering reality to suit his whim. I hear he's pretty good with that.

(Gawd...we don't really expect new forumites to read a whole 30-page thread, do we? I haven't read every page and I was here from the start)
Yeah, loads of Horror author characters have been made, including at least three different versions of Lovecraft himself. And didn't I make a Robert Harrison Blake character for you already, Pittplayer? Maybe my memory is playing up.
Anyway I still don't think it's been quite done right. A Horror Writer ought to be getting some advantage from going insane, right?
So:
There's the root of a nice idea there, but it needs work. I'll think some more.
Hah! I love the wierd tales ability. Finally, incentive for insanity. I suspect it might be somewhat abusable, but on the other hand, it would take a bit of time to accumulate the insanities and there's the devouring risk (fairly high for a 3rd draw).
The first ability isn't worded correctly. You might want to just make him be able to discard a monster trophy to restore sanity equal to its toughness.

Sorry, is this a misunderstanding on my part or on yours? The second ability isn't meant to get you sanity back - it's meant to let you spend Sanity instead of spending monster trophies. So for example you can spend 3 Sanity and 2 Toughness of trophies to buy a blessing.
It is a difficult one to phrase, though. Which one would you say works best out of the following:
"Any phase: Instead of spending one toughness' worth of monster trophies, Aubrey may lose 1 Sanity. He may do this as often as he likes."
or
"Any phase: When spending monster trophies, Aubrey may lose any amount of Sanity (up to his current total) to increase the toughness of one trophy by the same amount."
or
"Any phase: When using a location special ability, Aubrey may lose any amount of Sanity (up to his current total) to reduce the amount of monster toughness required by the same amount."
