I'm going to be buying a couple more expansions for EH and I'd like the community's opinion on the matter. As of right now I already own: Forsaken Lore, Signs of Carcosa, and Cities in Ruin. I'd like at least one big box expansion though I'm willing to buy two. Thoughts on which might be the best? I'm typically a solo player with sometimes one other joining me (the wife just can't stand to play this one, lol)
Which to buy next?

honestly finish out the small boxes with "strange remnants", then i'd go with the theme that you enjoy the most in regards to the sideboards. I'd hold out on "masks" due to the mass amount of cards (personal stories) you wouldn't be able to use. I personally like "UtP" the best out of the big boxes, due to the AOs (Abhoth has the coolest cultists imho).
After you add Strange Remnants to your small box collection I would advise buying Masks of Nyarlathotep as it has the biggest amount of universal content of all the big box expansions. That is, the biggest amount of content that can be used without setting up a sideboard.
Ian: Under the Pyramids is the best big box expansion, followed closely by The Dreamlands.
Nicole: Yes, I concur. UtP is IMO the best big box expansion. The side board is well incorporated into the base board. It is easy to get investigators in a out of the Egypt side board and it even helps with travel getting from one side of the board to another sometimes. The city effects added are fun and helpful too. Oh, and the addition of relic unique assets is another favorite part of the expansion.

I'd agree 100% with this. Strange Remnants is a lot of fun and it's a small investment. A handful of people I've met detest the idea of a sideboard, but everyone I play with loves the content and variety you get with the big box expansions.
Like most on these boards I'd pick the big box theme that you like best. However even though Mountains of Madness is my fave theme-wise, it's probably my least favourite big box expansion as it seems FFG hadn't worked out maximizing the side boards yet. My order, yours may be different:
1) Under the Pyramids: great AOs, both of them. Fun investigators. Solid use of sideboard if you decide to have it as part of your game.
2) Dreamlands: Probably best use of sideboard IMO. AOs are good, investigators and cards fun but a little below UtP for me.
3) Mountains of Madness: great investigators, middling execution otherwise.
4) Masks of Nyarlathotep: I think adding another thing like Resources was quite dumb, and some of the cards and investigators are a hodgepodge. But you do get useful things like more Mystic Ruins cards, and both AOs are pretty fun. Still, you'll be leaving half of what you get in this box, in the box, unless you have at least 2 more big box expansions. Way overpriced for what it gives you IMO.
I must also advise Strange Remnants. The cards are fun, the mechanic is easy to understand, and the investigators are some of my favorites (Tony and Marie FTW)
After that, go for whichever Mythos you like the best.
Mountains of Madness has the best Investigators of the group, but it was the first expansion released so it feels less streamlined than the later installments. Rise of the Elder Things is a unique variant on the Elder One which I really like.
Under the Pyramids adds a lot of new stuff, and Nephren-Ka is a great Ancient One.
The Dreamlands is a bit more Mythos-specific, but it has good Investigators and a new version of the "Expedition" style quests like Strange Remnants.
Masks does have some good stuff in it, but I think it's not enough buck for its bang.
I would go for Under the Pyramids. I really enjoy the AOs, investigators, and have the most fun playing it of the three big board expansions. I have yet to play Masks however.
