This is an adventure idea I had for a short introductory scenario:
The PCs reach a small village called Schmertzecke, located near an infamous swamp which the locals call the Witch-Bog.
All is not well in Schmertzecke since a Romeo & Juliet-esque tragedy is holding the town in its grip. Two millers, Klaus Tannenbaum the windmiller and Dieter Waldbrenner the watermiller, hate each other's guts over a piece of land they each wanted to own and wound up both losing. Now of course, Tannenbaum's daughter Hedwig is in love with Waldbrenner's son, Wolf.
And of course, she's gone missing.
And of course, he went after her.
And for the first time since long, the two millers get along (albeit grudgingly) in their desire to get their kids back. What they presume is that they eloped to teach their fathers a lesson...
But...
If the PCs interrogate the local wise man, Gerhardt Haulebaum, he'll tell them he thinks the Bog-witch is responsible. The Bog-witch was always looking for a young girl to follow in her footsteps. She lives inside a mouldy old tree in the swamp.
The PCs can go look for the witch in the swamp, where, along the way they will be attacked by Undead, summoned by the Witch, including one who wields a sword recognizable as belonging to Wolf. When they at last reach the witch, she is furious. She says she only took the poor child to protect her...
It seems Hedwig had made a pact with a Slaanesh Demon in order to elope and be with Wolf forever. Only the witch can keep the demon out of her...
Do the players believe the witch? Do they kill her?
Possible outcomes:
- The PCs kill the witch and take Hedwig home. Along the way she turns into a demon.
-The PCs leave the witch and Hedwig and return to Schmertzecke, only to find a vengeful demon destroying the place.
-The PCs kill Hedwig and the witch, to be confronted with a half-demonic Wolf Waldbrenner out for revenge
Thoughts?
