You going to play at a muse n? Maybe we'll drop by and check it out, maybe play if we get there early enough

You bet, we'll be there by 6pm i would say, probably would be space for more people to play if you wanted. One Great City Brewing is about a 2 minute drive from there.

The Western ND crew (of 2) is not arriving until 10 or 11pm Fri. The weather has me worried, but we'll put the good tires on and rely on Canadian hospitality if necessary.

If the tourney has an odd number, we have 1 guy coming (to watch) who has played 2 games ever (however he is very excited about it)... is it better for 1 guys to miss a game each round and get an 8-3, or to give 3 random guys an possible 10-1. Although, I think if his opponent was slightly more casual than 'Regionals', he could make the match interesting. He actually played well in his 2nd game, but his knowledge of upgrades is minimal. We'll see how numbers work out on Saturday before twisting his arm.

On a related note, I had to drive 5 hours and got a 1st round random bye my first tournament. It was a bit anti-climactic. My 2nd round (first game ever) was with the Worlds ref because of my 8 point 'victory'. Haha. Good times.

Depending on how it goes I also have my SC bye that I could use for the first round so as not to make someone else sit out (for one round anyways). We also have some newer players as well, including a guy that I think has played 3 games total so far and he's in.

Should be a fun day regardless though, looking forward to meeting all of you guys and getting some good games in.

southern alberta is nowhere near winnipeg...for the storm warning...lol.

I say play no matter what...games are better and it is a good experience.

It’s more they are going to be driving through it, mate.

10cm dropping tonight right before they head off.

I'd assume they would just stick to ND until they hit Grand forks or Fargo and turn north.

It’s hitting here before they leave Calgary.

Nah man, only Hothgary worries for me ?

They just issued a storm warning for us now too:
https://weather.gc.ca/warnings/report_e.html?mb9#220012206204764821201803010501ws1171cwwg

"Southern Manitoba will see multiple batches of snow over the coming days as this storm develops. The first is forecast to occur on Friday night into Saturday morning. Snow is forecast to develop in North Dakota, then lift northwards through southern Manitoba. Amounts with this band of snow are forecast to remain low, with general accumulations of up to 4 centimetres.

The main event will occur Sunday night into Monday. A strong Colorado Low is forecast to begin spreading snow northwards into southern Manitoba by Sunday evening, rapidly intensifying as the night progresses. This heavy snow is forecast to continue through Monday, then begin to gradually diminish on Monday night into Tuesday. Snowfall totals are forecast to be significant. While it's too early to be too specific, current guidance suggests a high probability of storm total snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 centimetres.

Wind of 30 to 40 km/h will combine with heavy snow and give reduced visibilities in blowing snow. Travel on highways will likely be impacted."

Lots of shoveling on the horizon...

"It's supposed to snow two feet! How will we get through!"

Hi All!

Our apologies for not being more active on the forums, and thanks to Efay for keeping on top of things on here!

For those of us not using the "facebooks" here is the update we just posted for the event:

Quote

We're a day away from the Armada Regional Championship, here's what you need to know:

1) As of this writing, there are 3 spots left. We have deactivated online registration just so we don't have an issue where there is someone in store registering as someone else is registering online, and putting us over capacity.
However if you are travelling from out of town, we can reactivate online registration if you would like to confirm your seat before making the trip.

2) Fleet lists are required. We prefer that fleet lists are emailed in to [email protected], ideally by 10pm Friday Night, so that they arrive in time, and we have time to print them out.
Please make sure that the player's name is included in the body of the email along with the squad.

3) Need to some last minute games in? Tables are available at AMNG starting at 11am Friday through 11pm Friday for Armada players to get last minute practice games in.

4) Are you attending from out of town, or elsewhere, and have a bye from a store championship? If you'd like to arrive late, and "sleep in", please ensure that: A) You've registered and paid for your entry. B) You've sent us your squad list and we've confirmed receipt, prior to the start of the tournament.
C) You arrive and check in no later then 2pm.

If you have questions, please either:
- Post here
- Email Us ([email protected])
- Call Us (204-415-1112)

May the force be with you.

See you soon, and safe travels to everyone 'Peg bound!

I'm praying I don't miss my second regional in a row due to 'environmental factors'. The forecast says the heavy snow will hit north of ND just as we arrive in Minot (unless we make the final cut... that sounds funnier when I say it sarcastically). The Calgary guys aren't going to be so lucky methinks.

Does anyone know how Provincial Hwy MB-2 is for being cleared? Going up to Brandon to use Canada Hwy 1 costs us 20 minutes, but I wonder if it is worth it in icy weather. We will have to use the port of entry south of Brandon because of the late hour of making the border crossing on the way home.

Also, can fuel be gotten easily on MB-2 late at night? Nearly all the small towns here have automatic pumps for late night stops, but you never know about fuel that is measured in Liters. (BTW, I'm a voice for converting from our measurement system based on the foot of a German-French king, but we still use gallons.)

@SkyCake my opponent had to bail on me for a game this evening. Myself and one other guy are going to pop by the store around 7 for a little bit and aim to be over at One Great City for 7:30-8ish. If you're on the Facebook event page at all and look at the guest list, my name is Brian S, so you can identify me at least haha.

@deDios here's the official Manitoba highway conditions map with current road conditions as their state, it's updated pretty regularly during this kind of weather: https://www.manitoba511.ca/en/map.html#l=85&x=-10630924&y=7337121&z=0&lb=1&rb=1

We'll be inbound by 7 and planning to have a quick game.
